Mission Eleven: Operation Serpent Strike: Mouth of the Beast

Objectives:

Insert into Caves

Disable radio Comm

Locate Vault

Secure nukes

Move to extraction

At the beginning of this mission there is a radio station directly below the cave entrance ahead of you. The only way I found that I could get to the radio without the enemy calling in your presence was to run like mad towards it, ignoring everyone and everything until you shoot and destroy it. It is somewhat odd that an enemy doesn't actually need to be near the radio to call in your arrival. When the radio is in pieces, turn your attention the terrorists in the yard. Before you start the mad dash, set your team to fire at will. They will be doing a lot of fighting while you are running. After everyone is taking a dirt nap make your way up the stairs and hold outside the doorway.

Three guys will make their way outside as you gun them down. When all three are dead creep inside and start taking out the lights. Make your way down the tunnels killing everyone and popping every light you come across. When you come across a generator, you can turn it off to shut off the lights in that area. Make your to the large cavern where you will see a flag in the background. From here take the right hand passage past the generator and work your way outside.

Two terrorist will attack here, one being to your left on top on the rocks and the other will come running around the corner with a grenade launcher. Continue on to Nav. Point Romeo watching for the two snipers on either side of the cave entrance. Hold at the entrance of the cave while you wait for the 4 guards to come around the corner. Waste them and head into a room full of crates. Again shoot out the lights or turn off the generator to take advantage of the dark.

Few enemies block your path until you reach a passage where a cut scene starts showing you that the terrorist have the nukes. Make your way to the vault and kill everyone you can as fast as you can. If one enemy escapes down the corridor, he will set the timer on the nukes. A 60 second timer will start to count down indicating when the nuke will explode. Enter each side cave looking for the nuke that is beeping and has a red light flashing on it. That is the armed one, the non-armed one flash Green. It takes a while to disarm the nuke so you want to get there as fast as you can with at least 20 seconds left on the countdown timer. Have the team cover your back while you take the nuke out of commission. When it is disarmed you will need to set the teams to clear out each room of any left over bad guys to secure the nukes.

When there are all dead you will need to return to the nuke and arm it. From here you have seven minutes to haul ass and get back to the extraction point which was where you started. Oh, and of course more enemies are entering the caves to stop you. Kill anyone you come across fast and keep moving. Seven minutes is more than enough time to get back to the beginning so take your time and don't get sloppy. There are a few places where the enemy will arrive in mass numbers. Where you turned off the first generator inside the nuke cave is one place and near the exit to Nav. Point Romeo is another. There will be sporadic appearances of enemies until you reach the exit to the clearing. When you reach the extraction point, be cautious and make sure there is no one around in the clearing. Head down to the center of the clearing to reach the extraction point and to end the mission.

Mission Twelve: Operation Serpent Strike: Deathblow

Objectives:

Eliminate Kitten

Eliminate Fat cat

Well it's about time. Finally a nice day time mission where you don't have to use the NVG. Too bad this level is set to a twenty minute time limit and is just crawling with enemies that all have five itchy trigger fingers. For this mission I equipped everyone except Specter with the M60. You are going to go through a lot of ammo on this mission and these guns hold a lot more than the rest. The range on them isn't the greatest so that's why you should equip at least one team member with a sniper rifle.

From the start, set your team to fire at will because you will need it badly. The plan on the TACMAP is to head left to Nav. Point Echo and creep through the sewer there. If you do you have one mean firefight when you exit the tunnel. I prefer to head directly north from the start as far as you can, and then work my way west towards the objective. When you follow this route the enemies run out of the building to get you instead of you appearing right at their feet. It is just like a shooting gallery since only one or two enemies are close enough to do any real damage to you. Slowly make your way over to the two-story building where Kitten will be on the second floor.

Most of the enemies will be cleared out by now except for maybe 2-3 on the second floor. Creep up the staircase and clear out the top floor. This is where Kitten is, so make sure you eliminate him to complete your first objective. Pat yourself on the back and make your way farther west, to a three-story building that holds Fat Cat. Use the same tactic for this building as you did for the first one but attack it from the west instead.

Remove any enemies that run out from the damaged buildings along the way. When you can see the three-story building, move along to the far side of it so that you can see it and the small building beside it with the ramp going across. From here lay prone and shoot everything that moves. When you get tired of laying there shooting, get up and check around the corners but do not enter the buildings yet. Look up on the second and third floors and take out any guards there too.

When no more enemies have appeared for a while, go inside the smaller building to the right and go up the stairs until you get to the board that is ramped between buildings. Sneak across it and watch for Fat cat. He will be one of the only guys left alive and I always found him walking around on the roof here. Pop a cap in his ass and call it a day! Good job soldier!
