Mission Eight: Buddha Temple

Infiltrate the Buddha Temple

You start his level a little bit ahead of where you did with Ayame. You are already at the temple with only one guard walking back and forth in front. Stealth kill him and grapple up to the crawlspace above the pillars. Crawl through to the other side and jump over the gap to the platform on the far right. Hop up on the ledge and toss in some rice for the basket head monk walking back and forth. Kill him and head up the stairs and up the ramp.

Toss some rice into the room here and take out the Kempo monk. Drop down into the next room and hide behind the wall until the monk turns around. Sneak up, kill him and continue on to the outside area. Jump across to the platform and look down. Where the bear was on Ayame's mission, is now a Kenpo Bouzu monk. Wait until he walks back around the corner to jump down. Jump down and immediately hide behind a pillar on the right side. Grapple up to the wooden beam over head and grapple up again to the planks of wood. Stealth kill the monk on watch up here. Drop down between the two wooden beams and hide behind a pillar until the monk here turns around. Help him get a good night's rest and enter the little room he was guarding.

Grapple up and take out the basket head here. Run down the pathway till you come to a large cavernous room with platforms in front of you and a bridge above you. Grapple up to the right and grab onto the bridge. Head left across it and hop over the opening here. Hide behind the wall on your right and toss out some rice for the bald monk that is getting very close to you. Take him out and continue down the passage way he was walking along. Turn the left corners and hop down into a large room. Go around the corner on the right and grapple up to a room there.

Jump on top of the boards here that are blocking the opening and drop down onto a platform below you. Run along the passage and crawl through the small space to enter a room with wooden beams. Grapple up from beam to beam to a little room at the top. Grapple up out of there to get outside. Hide behind a lamp while the monk walks back and forth. Sneak up on him for the stealth kill and quickly jump back to hiding before the bear at the far end sees you.

Walk down the alleyway avoiding the hole in the ground and continue around the corner into the temple. Grapple up above the pots and look down the other side. Take out the monk down below to start the cut scene and boss fights.

Kagura and Ganda

Unlike when you fought Kagura and her wolf as Ayame, this time around you will want to focus on Kagura and ignore Ganda. He gets his health restored way to fast while fighting him to bother trying to take him out. If you can get one good combo in on Kagura, that should take care of her.

Tatsumaru

Next up, you need to take out Tatsumaru. When fighting him be sure to stay out of the way of his flying feet of fury. He has a charge move that ends in him grabbing you and punching you spastically. Avoid his charge at all costs and attack him when he misses with it.

Mission Nine: Tenrai's Fortress Part 1

Assassinate the evil Tenrai!

Start this mission by running along the left wall and waiting for the red Jonin down the hallway to the left to turn around. Run like mad to stealth kill him before he turns around. Run back into the main passage where you were and go around to the other side of the wood pieces that are sticking out of the ground. There is another Jonin just up ahead but he is hard to see in the dark. Take him out and make your way across the log lying over the chasm.

Jump off it about half way across and land on the roof of the house. Below are a red Jonin and a Kunoichi walking around. Jump down to stealth kill the Kunoichi and quickly jump back up on the roof. Wait for Red Jonin to turn around and introduce his back to your sword. Head down the passage way past the house and climb up onto the rock to your left. Jump down and stealth kill the Kunoichi walking there. Continue along the passageway until you come to a very large area with a wooden path leading from the doorway.

Wait until the Red Jonin walking back and forth near the end of the wood planks turns to kill him. Head to your left and grapple up to the high rock platform. From up here, look down and wait until the Kunoichi patrolling there turns away from where you want to land. Drop down behind her and stealth kill her. From here head left again and continue along the wall till you reach an out cropping you can hide behind while you watch the Kunoichi on the walkway. Run and give it to her from behind while she isn't looking. Next, grapple up to the rocks above you.

Toss some poison while you crouch behind a rock and wait for the martial Arts man to get it. Stealth kill him and head up the stairs. Run through this room and turn right. There are two martial arts guys in here. They will both walk out and back into their hallways at the same time. When they start to walk back in, run after the closest one and stealth kill him. Hide behind the wall for the other to turn around and take him out also. Continue through the room and turn left. Take out the red Jonin here and head up the stairs.

Toss out some rice for the martial arts expert wandering around in this room. Kill him and then grapple up to the left of the walkway above. There is a martial arts expert here to in the center on the steps that just refuses to turn around. You will need to couch past him, sneak up the stairs and kill him from behind. Continue around the left corner and across the wooden bridge. Take out the martial Arts expert here and head for the ledge. Hang from the ledge until The Red Jonin to your right turns away. Kill him while being careful to not let the other red Jonin below see you. Drop down and take out the other Jonin while he is walking away from you.

Make your way around the corner and down the passageway. Take out the Martial Arts expert and crouch over the ledge just past him. Watch and wait for the Kunoichi down below to turn. Launch a flying jump attack on her when she does. Hop your way up the stones on the right side of the room. Take out the Red Jonin who is at the top of the stones and hop down the other side. Make a big jump across to the wooden structure where the Kunoichi is walking back and forth.

Hop down from there; make your way past another wooden structure and up the stone steps. Turn the corner and crouch into the room here. On both sides of you will be a martial arts expert. You need to take out the one on the right while the one on the left is not visible and around the corner. Kill the one on the right and then take out the one on the left before he comes back around the corner. If you let him come back around he will see the body and start searching for you. Run around the corner and jump up the ledge to the big doors. A cut scene starts and the boss fight starts.

Onikage

To deal with Onikage you want to stay away from his kicks and his grab. When he grabs you it really does a number on your health and to make matters worse it transfers into him. Also you will want to watch out for him chugging back a health potion during the fight. Nail him with a good sword combo when he misses with his attacks. Be aggressive with him and don't let up.

Mission Ten: Tenrai's Fortress part 2

Assassinate the evil Tenrai!

Grapple up to the opening above you to your left. Hop down the other side while taking out the Martial Arts guy around the corner. Turn left and take out another martial arts guy here. Jump up the ledge, run up the ramp and jump over the bottomless pit in the middle of it. Take out the martial arts guy on the right who is patrolling back and forth.

Continue on down the ramp sneaking around the pillars to take out the Red Jonin down the hallway to the left and the martial arts guy hiding in the alcove across from the opening in the wall. Grapple up into the opening on the wall and keep on going through the halls. Take out the Kunoichi and martial arts guy and you will come to a room with some columns in it. Grapple your way up the columns to the doorway at the top of the room. There is a martial arts guy here that will spot you, but when he tries to attack you, he just runs off the edge.

Make your way though the doorway and hop over to the first platform. From here grapple over the rest of the way to the far ledge. Walk along the path until you reach a recess in the wall. Look over to your left and you will see a Blue Jonin standing there on the other side. Use your blow dart to take him out before he spots you. Continue along the path crossing over to where the Jonin was and eventually reaching the large door way. Jump up the two ledges and hang on the third while you wait for the Martial Arts expert to turn and walk away from you. Jump up and take out the one on the right first, then the one on the left. Watch your step in this room as there are a few holes in the floor that lead to bottomless pits.

Next, make your way to the broken staircase at the far end of the room and grapple to the opening across from it and enter the orange room. Grapple up to the ledge above you and exit the doorway. When you walk out onto the ledge, there will be a staircase to your right and a Red Jonin past that. You can just ignore the Jonin and jump forward off the ledge. When you land, head left and turn around. Look up to find the ledge sticking out of the wall on the right. Grapple up to it and jump up to the next landing.

Head straight through this room as far as you can until you come to a drop on your left with lamps lining the hallway below. There will be a martial arts expert patrolling back and forth, so do your best to land on his head, sword first. Make your way around the corner, down a dark hall lined with lamps that apparently do nothing, stopping at the large doorway on your left. There will be a martial arts expert patrolling in here. Take him out while he is turned away and smile knowing that you just killed the last normal enemy in the game. Walk up to the mural on the wall and a cut scene will start.

Tenrai

To defeat Tenrai there really isn't a fancy trick. You just need to hit him, plain and simple. Of course that is harder than it sounds. He has a teleport move that gets really annoying, really fast. If you stay away from him, he raises thorn like spikes out of the ground that follow you when you run. He also has a missile attack where he shoots, what looks like, ice shards at you. These are slow and easy to dodge and don't pose that much of a threat. To shut him down, you will need to get your shots in on him when he misses with his attacks against you. He seems to pause for a few seconds after each of his attacks. Strike then and he won't be standing for long.

After a short cut scene the battle with Tenrai starts again. At first you won't be able to do any damage to him but keep attacking until a cut scene starts. After the cut scene you will be able to start dealing the damage. Tenrai attacks this time around by swiping at you with his claws. He uses mainly brute force to attack in this form. Give him some brute force back and take him down. Again, he seems to pause after he attacks. Make him miss his attacks and hit him then.

Depending on which choice you took when fixing your sword, you may have to fight Tenrai a third time. If you do, use the same tactics you used to defeat him the second time around.

Tesshu Walkthrough

I actually liked going through the game the most with Tesshu. Not a lot was different from playing with Rikimaru or Ayame, but there was enough to make feel like a different game. The bosses seem a lot harder since Tesshu fights with his fists mostly and needs to get in closer to land his hits. There are only 5 missions and most of them are very short. Also, all of Tesshu's special moves are already unlocked and stealth killing enemies gets you money to use for buying items at the start of each round. Since you have already completed the game twice previously, you will know the maps and which direction to go very well. For that reason this walkthrough will not be as detailed as the others. I will not be telling you how to kill and where every enemy is. If you have gotten this far you should know how to peek around corners and sneak up on them.

Mission one: Echigoya

Assassinate Nasu and Echigoya!

The Echigoya mission is pretty much the same this time through with only a few minor differences. First thing you will probably notice is that there are a lot more enemies walking around. You may want to use your blow gun to take out a few of them. Stick to the rooftops and pick out which guys you want to kill. Also using the beehive wouldn't bee (*snicker*) a bad idea.

When you have had your fun with them, you can either take the crawl space in the building or head through the gate to get to the next area. If you take the gate, follow the passage way around till you come to the room with the platform above you. Grapple up and out of the hole and dash to the corner of the white building ahead of you. Roll out and kill the samurai walking towards you on your left. Grapple up to the roof of the white buildings and head right.

Keep going right, jumping over the rooftops until you land on the very large roof. When you are at the top of the roof head right and drop down to the first platform. Look down and there will be two samurai there guarding the main door. Drop down, kill them and head inside. When inside, head through the doors in front of you and make a quick left to the doors there. This is where Echigoya is. After the cut scene, take the key from him and head down the hallway to the right.

Follow it through until you come to the padlocked door in the long hallway. Use the key on it and drop down the gap. This should look pretty familiar. Drop down and take out the sleeping guard. Grapple up to the opening on the right and head up the stairs. Make your way down the hall, through the door on the right and through the crawlspace. Grapple up to the attic and continue through the doors. In the second room, take out the samurai hiding in the recess to the right. Keep going until you come to a drop.

Jump down and take out the samurai there and run into the next room. Drop down here through the beams to "fight" Nasu. A familiar cut scene starts and the mission ends.

Mission Two: Gohda Castle

Teach Rikimaru a lesson!

At the start of this mission you are under the floor boards by a large open area. Beside you is a guard who apparently "loves his job". In the hallway beyond the large room are a few more guards. Getting out from under the walkway with out being spotted is tricky at best, not to mention fighting the battle that will ensue when said guards come running into help. I suggest turning around under the floor boards and going through the doorway to the left of where you start.

Take out the samurai here and head up the stairs. There a few samurai here, but nothing you can't handle. Take them out and make your way through the room with the tree paintings and head down the stairs. To your left will be a room with a lone samurai. You will want to alleviate his breathing before making your way around the next corner. Make the long run to get the guard down there before he turns around. Grab the health in this room and continue through the door. Take out the guard on the right before you make your way up the stairs.

Go through the room at the top of the stairs killing the guard and stopping at the next door. Take out the two guards in here; go through the door and down the hall. Take out the guard here in the hallway and the one in the room at the end. Scamper your way down the stairs to the golden hallways, grabbing the health potion on your left and your ready to square off with Rikimaru

Rikimaru

For fighting Rikimaru I would suggest using a spear that you should have picked up from a dead guard. Rikimaru is a tough customer to get close in on without getting some heavy damage taken yourself. Give him a few whacks while sidestepping his attacks. You only need to get a few shots in though. Once you get Rikimaru down to about ? his health a cut scene will start and the mission will end.

Mission Three: Buddha Temple

Rendezvous with Senkichi by the waterfall!

When the mission starts you are thrown into a battle with Ganda. Use the same tactics that you used with Ayame, except use the needles instead of sticky bombs. They don't do nearly the same damage so depending on how many needles you have; you will probably have to give Ganda some old fashion fist loving. Nail him with some punches when he misses with his stick attack.

After you defeat him you will need to make your way out of the temple. Run past the bear, take out the monk and hop down the hole. I leave the bear alone here. For some reason whenever I try to get a stealth kill on him I just punch him in the ass and the bear isn't happy about that. Drop down the hole and drop down the gap. Try not to hit the fire burning below when you land. Grab the health potion and crawl through the hole in the wall. Take out the basket head monk and head around the corner to the wood platform. Grapple up the ledge on your left and grapple up again to the top of the board on your right. Drop down and take out the Kenpo Bouzu in the next room.

Grapple up to the ledge and take out another bald monk in this passage. Hang a left and hop over the gap. Run ? ways across the bridge and jump off to the platform below you to your right. Head down that passage and kill the monk there. Keep going along until you exit to the outside area. A cut scene will begin and the mission ends.

Mission Four: Limestone cavern

Escape from the Limestone Cavern!

This mission starts off where the dynamite task started for Ayame. You need to follow the map to grab your tools from various rooms and then make your way out via the circular water room where you used the dynamite. Follow the same paths that you did with Ayame and it will take you no time to complete this very short mission.

Start by taking out the samurai that is right in front of you. Head down that tunnel and make the long drop down. Continue to your right down the passage way where the council was help prisoner. Grab one of your tools from there. Continue through the passage getting the rest of you tools but be wary of the samurai here. There actually quite a number of them. Head up the stairs, run through the wood room and drop down on the wooden scaffolding.

Take out the ninja and Samurai here and drop down the next opening to the wooden planks above the water. Keep going to the far left of this cavern and grapple up the wooden walkway. Make your way down the tunnel to the water room and out the doorway where the wall was that you had Ayame blow up.

Mission Five: Cemetery

Go to the house in the cemetery!

Well it's back to the cemetery again and unlike most of Tesshu's mission you need to go all the way through it. I really dislike the cemetery levels but at least this time through there is no undead to deal with. The path to get through to the house (which is where you fought the headless giant) is the exact same as Ayame's walkthrough.

The only difference is the place is crawling with Jonins and Samurais. There are no fancy tricks that you need to watch for through here, just keep on your toes and keep peering around corners before you turn them. Eventually a cut scene will play while running through the tunnels. When it is done playing, grapple upwards and you will be at the house in the cemetery to end the mission.

Mission Six: Ronin Village

Return to Zennosuke!

This mission for Tesshu is run through in the reverse order that it was for Ayame and Rikimaru. Your first stop will be the red house to the left of you. It is the same red house you entered to finish the level in Ayame's Mission. Jump on the roof of it and drop down, taking out the Ronin guarding the front door. Enter and watch the humorous cut scene.

Go straight towards the water a head of you when you are back outside. Turn right when you are in it and make your way along the wall. Grapple up the ledge and continue along the wall. Hop up the wall and up the slope to the gate and on to the next area. Jump up on top of the first giant barrel to your left. Crouch down and look over the edge until the Kunoichi there is turned away from you. Jump down on her noodle and make your way up the hill on your left for the next area.

Climb onto the roof of the house that is on the other side of the giant barrel in front of you. Dive off the roof into the water way below. Crouch and roll to the far left side and jump up grabbing the ledge. Wait until the Ronin there turns around to climb up and kill him. Grapple onto the roof right beside you after you take him out. Run along the roof, following it around the turn until you come to the end. Jump off the roof, heading for the water to your right. Crawl through the opening to reach the final area. When you come out the other side, there will be no enemies to fight except for Jinnai.

When you run up to him a cut scene will play and then the battle begins. Please note though, if you did not go into the red building in the first area to speak with Zennosuke, then nothing will happen when you get to this area. I found that out the hard way.

Jinnai

Make sure you have a lot of health on hand for this match up. His sword can do some really mean damage to you. Use the houses and rooftop of the village to your advantage to get some breathing room if you start getting beaten a little too much. Jinnai doesn't seem to jump up onto them to chase you, however, he can swipe you with his sword if you are only one rooftop above him. When Jinnai swings at you, he will sheath his sword after every swipe. This is when you want to attack him. Get close to let him swing at you, move and hit him as he sheathes his sword. I found this to be the best method to defeating him.

Jinnai Sakyo

Well it seems Jinnai has a brother who helps him with his dirty work. Odd though, that they have the same first name. This Jinnai has a few new tricks like a shoulder charge and sword attack that lifts the ground at you, but he also only has 80 health. Not to mention that this Jinnai will come looking for you on rooftops. For this Jinnai I found that if you hide from him and let the Ki meter turn pink and ?!, then you can get some good surprise hits in without him blocking them. Repeat that move along with the same technique used to defeat the first Jinnai and he won't be alive for long.

Through the portal

You start off this futuristic mission down an alley beside a basketball court. You have two ways which you can go. There is a staircase to your left with a cop walking up and down it or you can jump on top of the cars to the right and take the path there. I prefer to take the stairs. Head through the basketball court so you can see when the cop is walking up the stairs. Jump over the fence and kill him when he does.

Be careful you don't get spotted by the cop down the alleyway around the corner on the right. Next make your way through the doorway on the left. Hide behind the column in the centre of the room and watch the cop walking on the other side. Stealth kill him when he is turned. At the back of the room is a wall and some pipes. On the other side of the wall is a cop walking back and forth. Poke your head around the corner to watch him.

Take him out when he turns around and run out the door to the walkway. Down to your left is another cop standing around. Jump down on his head and kill him. Grapple up to the pipes overhead and crouch so you don't get spotted. Up high and to the left of the fence in front of you is a ledge. It's difficult to see, but it is there. Grapple up to it and drop down the other side onto the pipes.

Walk along the pipes to the far side where you can drop of them onto a ledge. Crouch along this ledge and enter the air ducts. You will exit inside a parking garage. Grab onto the ledge to climb out, but take a look around first and see where the three cops are in here. Two of the cops in here use guns and they really aren't fun to deal with. After they are dealt with, grapple up to the catwalk above and enter another air duct.

Drop down through the hole and hop over the desk to take out the cop here. Make your way down the hallway, take out the guard and jump into the elevator. Take out this one last cop around the corner and head through the double doors.

Mr. D CEO

I couldn't tell you why his name is Mr. D CEO but it is and he is one tough customer. Since you only have one health potion, assuming you haven't used it yet, and not one ninja rebirth this fight is difficult at best. Use everything in your inventory to help wear him down. The caltrops are actually pretty useful here. When he steps on them, it gives you a few seconds to attack without him blocking.

He has a few attacks that he likes to use, the worse of which is a shoulder charge that ends in a grab. Another one of his attacks is an energy ball that he shoots from his fists. It doesn't move all that quick and is pretty easy to dodge. The CEO stays in place for a few seconds after he fires it so use that to your advantage and start wailing on him with a combo. Keep away from him until he fires at you and repeat your combos on him. Repeat that move and use the Caltrop and he will be toast in no time.
