Chapter 11: The Underworld of Crime

From the start of this chapter, the objectives are to get 4000 hero points and to meet Aunt May at the bank. Follow the white marker and it will lead you to the bank. When you get there, land on the roof and change. The first time I did this it glitched and there was no marker to get changed at. Had to reset the chapter and start it again. When you meet Aunt may a scene will play and Doc Ock will arrive to make a withdrawal. When the battle breaks out Doc Ock will have three goons with him that fire shiny grenades at you. Take these guys out first before taking on Doc Ock. Lure them to you and keep on the opposite side of the bank as the good doctor.

They are tough customers but eventually you can take them all down and use your spider reflexes if you like to make it easier. When they are down, you need to take on the big boss man himself. When you spider sense tingles, press B button and then immediately press the Y button to web that tentacle to the ground. When you web it to the ground, jump towards the Doc and give him a few shots. I’m not sure if it was time or damage but when I had him down to ¾ of his health the next scene started. When he takes his leave, he will have three more goons in the next much smaller room. This is where I preferred to use the spider reflexes since it is such a smaller area to fight in. Stay away from the bouncing grenades and be sure you use your spider sense here to dodge the stab attacks from their guns.

When you take down all three, another scene will play and you will have 30 seconds to get up to the roof. Simply jump and climb up the wall and you will get there fast enough. When you reach the roof, Otto will be climbing in a helicopter for his retreat. You need to follow the helicopter through the city and don’t let it get too far ahead or else the mission will fail and you have to start again from the rooftop. The easiest way to follow the helicopter is to web it and hang on. That way you don’t have to chase it and you can just hitch a ride until the next scene starts. When it does, simply swing over to the blue marker quickly and when you reach aunt May another scene will play.

If you have the hero points already to complete the objective then the chapter will end, if not, get out there and start saving some lives! When you reach 4000 hero points the chapter will end.

Chapter 12: Shocking Developments

This chapter starts with the objectives of getting to your apartment and getting 4000 hero points but it’s never that simple is it? Of course not. Head all the way over to your apartment by following the white marker and enter the open window when you reach it. When you enter, a scene will play and Jonah will tell you to get to his sons charity party going on now. Head out the window and start swinging your butt on over there. Land on the roof at the sky light where the blue marker is and another scene will play. After the Black Cat lifts your spirits and tells you about Shocker, you need to follow her in another round of cat and mouse. After the little jaunt through the city, cat will stop at a warehouse and enter.

Follow her in and Shocker will be inside on the other side of some giant fans blowing upwards. You will have Black Cat with you to fight but after you give Shocker a few hits, he will bring in goons that Black Cat will deal with. To defeat Shocker all you need to do is punch and kick him but he is a bouncy bugger and moves around a lot, not to mention the bolts of electricity he fires at you. The best tactic I found was to stay on the ground under the ledge where the red light is and let Shocker come to you. When he does, give him a few punches and when he starts to charge up and start glowing bright, take off and swing away from him.

Get a good distance from him since his attack will spread out pretty far. When he is done with the attack, head back under there and let him come to you again. Also just to mix it up, when you see his marker on the ground but around the corner, I would run out using swift and plow him an uppercut while he wasn’t ready. He takes a lot of hits to defeat but other then his big blast attack that he charges up, he doesn’t deal a lot of damage, especially if you stay away from the goons on the top ledge. When he’s down for the count, exit the warehouse with cat and all you will need to do to end the chapter is have the hero points collected.

Chapter 13: Cleaning the Slate

Make your way back to the Bugle and have a chat with JJJ. He will tell you that there is an official coming in by helicopter and he wants you to go get photos of it. Leave the Bugle and make your way towards the destination marker. When you get close, a scene will play and a man will yell that aliens are holding up the Speedy Mart. Make your way there and a short scene with Mysterio. When the battle starts, run up to him and punch him once to take him down. Snap a picture of him with your enormous camera and you’ll web him up. Head back to the Bugle now and enter through the vent on the roof. After you talk to Jonah about the photo’s leave via the bathroom and a scene will play with you on the ground level.

After the scene is over, climb back up the Bugle wall to the roof and have another scene with Black Cat. She says she wants to go pay shocker another visit so follow her bouncy butt across the rooftops again. For the first part of this following game it is pretty straight forward. Cat will stop twice and at each stop there will be a group of 4 of Shockers thugs to deal with. After you deal with the second group, follow Cat to the street and around the building where she will then go under the bridge and use it to swing across the river to the other side. I’ll tell you right now that it took me a good twenty times to get across that freaking bridge. I tried going over it, under it and everything else but I would always fall behind. Stick close to her and watch when she goes through the opening under it.

Make sure you don’t fall in the water when you swing across under the bridge since it really does suck having to start this mission at the beginning. When you get across, follow her to the Oscorp warehouse and she will tell you that she’s going to find another way in. Enter through the door and follow the hallway around and down the stairs into a large blue room. Now you get to deal with Shocker again, but this time around he has a fancy new trick. He has a force field around him that you can’t break, although Cat will go up to one of the platforms and hack the computer panel there. When she does, you need to go to the ledge directly opposite from her and use the computer panel there.

When you are on the ledge where the panel is, it’s probably the safest place in the entire room since Shocker can’t hit you there. When Cat says so, hit the computer panel and Shocker will lower to the floor with out his shield. Jump down and then you can start to go to town on him just like the earlier time. Just remember that when you see him charging up, to get very far from him. After a few minutes the shield will go up again and you’ll have to repeat the same thing to bring it down again. Once Shocker has about half of his life, Cat will bring down the shield permanently and then Shocker is free for the kicking. Go to town on him and when it goes down as you did in the previous shocker mission, and the chapter is over.

Chapter 14: Burning Bridges

After the battle with Shocker, you realize you need to get to Mary Jane’s play and are given 5 minutes to get there. You should be able to make it with plenty of time left, so just head for the blue destination marker and a scene will play when you get there. Beat up the three thugs there and have a chat with MJ. After the next scene head for your rendezvous point with Black Cat. She’ll ask if you’re up for some fun and you’ll be in a race to the next destination. Whether you win or lose it doesn’t matter. A scene will trigger and you will go with her to an auction where they are selling some robot suits.

There are two robots suits, two snipers, one main tough guy with the eye patch and then a few regular guards. I took out the snipers first on the left and right and then went and worked on the eye patch guy. An easy way to defeat these guys one on one is to web them and grab them and carry them over the wall. Beat the snot out of them and go pick up another one. Save to the two robots for last and you can use your spider reflexes to smash them in no time. After they are dead another scene will play with Black Cat. Go track her down again for another scene and then head to Mary Jane’s apartment to end the chapter.

Chapter 15: To Save the City

When the chapter starts, head for your apartment and listen to your phone message. After the scene, go to the destination marker and you will go to lunch with Mary Jane. As you are eating a scene starts and Doc Ock is back on the block. When the scene with him is over, you will have 2 minutes to get to the meeting spot where he wants Spiderman to be. When you reach it, he will hop on the top of the subway car and you will have to go after him to fight him. Hop down on the track and chase after the train. Use sprint and charged jump and you will be able to catch up to the train quickly. Hop on top and Doc will stay at the far end. Get close to him and his tentacles will start to attack. Like the previous battle with him, use Y to web his arms and B to dodge them.

Since the two moves are hard to pull off one after another use Y+B at the same time to dodge everything and fire off a web once in awhile. Doc will float up and down on his other arms so keep dodging until he comes down. When he does, rush in and attack with your spider reflexes. Give him a few shots and retreat back a bit. Continue to hit Y+B and wait for him to lower down again. When he does, rush in for the attack and retreat right after. If you get grabbed, the Doc will toss you around and sometimes toss you off the train. If he does, swing after it and make your way back up to the track and run after it again. It is a pain in the butt if you get tossed off but a lot easier to land on the track and run across it to the train.

Also if you start getting your butt slapped around a lot by Doc, you can hop off the train and head to the spidey store and get a health increase to put you back to full health. From there you can head back to the train and start the beat down on the Doc again. Keep repeating the same pattern of Y+B and then attacking when he comes low and he’ll go down eventually. After the next scene, you’ll have a minute to get to the abandoned pier where Doc Ock has his hideout. If you aren’t used to swinging by now it is a tough trip to make but as long as you stick to the buildings (no pun intended) and stay away from the park, you should make it with time to spare.

When you enter the lab another scene will play and you will need to turn off 9 red switches spread out around the lab. There are four on the first level where you start, one in each corner. As soon as the battle starts, turn around and hit the switch there and then jump and swing across the gap to the next platform and switch. In the center of the room the room will be another fusion contraption that will be sending out a pulse field that will expand and contract except this time it keeps the same pattern the whole time. There will also be more plasma bolts that fire out at you and to top it all off, Doc Ock will be following you around as well. After you disable the 4 panels on the top floor, drop down to the second floor and there will be three rooms around this floor with switches in each room. When you enter the rooms, hit the switches and wait for the pulse shield to contract from the doorway before heading to the next wall where the next room will be.

When you have all three on the second floor, drop through the hole in the floor to the bottom platform and face the wall. To the left side will be another switch at the far end. Wait for the shield to expand towards you and when it retracts, crawl along the wall to the switch. Hit it and return when the shield again retracts. The last and final switch is the tricky one and is out of the way of all the rest. You can actually get it first if you like so that you don’t have to worry about going from the bottom floor back up to the top. The last switch is located just above where Mary Jane is standing where you started. If you look up a bit, it will just be to the left and above the first switch that you hit. Once you get the last one a scene will play and doc’s shield will be down and he’s fair game.

When you are back in control head down to the second floor and go into one of the side rooms. When you are in the side room you don’t have to worry about being tossed out into the water or falling off the platform and getting disoriented. Press down on the d-pad to lock onto Doc Ock when he comes close. Now to defeat him, use the same Y+B button mash combo and wait for him to lower to the ground. When he does, rush in with sprint and give him an uppercut punch which will toss him to the ground. When he lands, throw on your spider reflexes and go to town on him. When he starts to get up jump back and start mashing the Y+B buttons again. It isn’t the prettiest way to defeat Doc Ock but when you try the dodging when you spider sense goes off and it doesn’t work, you’ll be ready to throw your controller through the TV screen. Be sure to keep that same pattern of Y+B and then sprint and punch when he is low and you’ll have the good Doctor on the ground in no time at all.

Once Octavious is down and out, the ending game scenes will play and the credits will roll. After you start the game again, Chapter 16 entitled “The First Day of the Rest of Your Life” will start. The objective is to get 50 thousand hero points and then you can go onto chapter 17 which is appropriately enough named “The Second Day of the Rest of Your life” which you need to do the same thing. You can get the hero points by solving random acts of violence, doing photo shoots for Robbie and going to MJ’s apartment for some hefty hero point missions. There will also be plenty of hint tokens, secret tokens, Sky Scraper tokens and many other collectibles through out the game that you can now hunt for without actually having any storyline to follow and can take your time to find them when ever you like.

Congratulations on a job well done!
