Point Insertion

As the game starts, you are on a train. Walk to the front doors after the train stops and walk down and to the left to the end of the concourse. Make a left there and walk past the Combine and through the turnstile. Follow the corridor around and make a right to the fenced walkway. Follow it through and make a left where the Combine tells you to go towards Nova Prospekt. The door on the wall will open and the Combine there will tell you to follow him. Do so and enter the room at the end of the hall and you will then be alone with the guard. After he reveals himself and the scene plays, go through the door. Climb up the ladder there and stack two boxes on each other to get through the window.



Hop through and land on the box below and go through the door. Head up the stairs and the Combine there will toss a can and tell you to pick it up. Drop it in the trash and go through the opening he was guarding. Head to the end of the room and around to the left. Go through the door on the right to come outside. Make your way to the right to an alley there and climb the ladder. Go to the right and hop over the other side and land on the ground. Make your way to the right and around the corner past the two civilians there. Head to the end and enter the door on the left. Go to the next door and make your way up the stairs.



Head down the hallway to where the girl has her head out the door and run past to the stairs at the far end. Head up to the next floor and there will be a guy hanging out his doorway. Enter his apartment and he will tell you to head for the roof. Head through to the next door and right down the hall. Head up the stairs and into the next apartment. Go up the stairs in there and you will come to the attic. Run through to the opening and head up the ramp and across the boards and right along the walkway. Hop into the open window at the end and then down the stairs that will break behind you. A few Combine will enter then and punk you. After you wake up, follow Alex along.



A Red Letter Day

After you follow Alyx to the lab, watch and listen to the scene between her, the doctor and Barney. After you grab your HEV suit, you need to help Alyx teleport by first plugging in the plug that pops out and then flipping the switch beside it. After the teleport scene, make your way to the edge of the walkway and drop down. Head up the stairs to the right and go through the door there. Continue forward and around the corner and then Barney will show up to talk to you. Gab the crowbar and head to the left. Smash through the boards and continue through the corridor smashing the box to clear your way. Drop off the edge at the train and land on the ground. Go to the left and enter the train car and clear the path through to the door on the other side. Go through and head right and make your way around the next rain car. Go left and up the stairs and up the ladder. Hop across to the next train and off that to jump over the fence and enter the boarded up blue room. Head down the stairs there and follow the darkened hallway down another set to the bottom.

Route Kanal

Head to the end of the hall and make a left. A woman there will be begging for help as two Combines beat the crap out of her husband. Take them down with your crowbar and take the gun. Head up the stairs there and take out the next few Combines until you come outside. Walk along the fence until you reach an opening and then head to the ground using the stairs. When you hit the ground, a train will come so head back up to the platform and jump across to the top of train and over to the platform on the other side with the ladder. Climb up and you’ll be getting shot at by Combines. Shoot the barrels beside them and then enter the house there. Clear the doorway and go out and kill the combines on the right. Make your way around the corner and over the broken fence to the right and along the walkway to an alley on the right.



Enter it and crawl through the opening there and shoot the guard on the far side. Walk to the far right and drop down to the tracks. Make your way right and pop the combine as they pop out there. Peek around the corner on the right and shoot the barrel as it rolls towards you. Head up the stairs and through the room and up more stairs. When you get to the end, head down the stairs there and drop down to the tracks. Make a left and go through the opening in the fence and jump down into the water. Swim to the red traincar and climb the ladder on the left of it. Drop in the opening after you do and talk to the folks in there. Head out the door there and smash through the skid and then through the wooden wall. Crouch and continue through and watch the bird there get eating by the ceiling tentacle known as the Barnacle. Continue past the rubble after you kill it and you will stumble upon a gunfight.



Talk to the dude in the tunnel on the right and then quickly run around the corner and into the tunnel there. Head left and kill the combines there and enter the room with the radio. Climb the ladder and take out the two unsuspecting combines there with exploding barrels. Man the machine gun and start taking out everyone that appears. When they are dead, shoot the barrel on the platform to the right and it will create a bridge for you. Head across it and to the rubble on the other side of the area. Kill the Barnacles as you pass through and head to the left when you reach the other side. Talk to the girl there and head into the tunnel. Hop through the first room and enter the next tunnel. When you go through to the next, Combines will drop barrels on you. Swim down and let them blow the gate on the next tunnel. Go through once they do and you will come outside.



Head right and kill everyone here and blow the barrels under the bridge to destroy it. Head under what’s left and climb the hill to enter the small opening at the top. Move the barrels there and you will see some barnacle’s tentacles. Slide a barrel at them and slip past when they try to eat it. Make a left and then you will see a whole gaggle of barnacle. Watch you don’t slide down the muck towards them. Grab an explosive barrel beside you and slide it down the hill. Shoot it so it’s flaming when it’s on it way up to the barnacle and it will explode and kill them all. Head through and you will come outside. Hop into the water and watch for the flaming barrels being tossed in. Take out the combines above and then jump on the wooden platform that falls. Jump from there to the ladder beside the fence and jump in the water.

Swim to the far left and climb the ramp to get on the platform. Shoot the barrels on the bridge to kill the combines and then make your way around the platforms to the open tunnel entrance. When you enter there, there will be a moving ramp. Grab 8 cinder blocks from around the room and place them on the end of the ramp. When they are on, run up the ramp and jump to the platform on the other side. Head outside to where the helicopter is and make a left to an area of water and rubble. Quickly run through, following the water to the left and up the stairs there. Kill the Barnacle and run around to the blue door. Move the barrel and go through to go down some stairs. You can climb down the ladder on the right for some goodies or continue straight and left, up the slope.



Head left then right and there will be another slope with Barnacles at the bottom. Send down an explosive barrel to take them out. Head to the opening on the left at the bottom and go through to repeat the same thing in the next room. When you go through the door there, you’ll come outside. Head to the far left and down the corridor there before the helicopter takes aim at you. Follow the corridor around and down the stairs and smash your way through until you meet up with a pal in a room. After the scene with him, some Manhacks will enter the room for you to take down with your crowbar. Go through the door beside where the manhacks came through and follow the corridor outside. Go through the fence door and drop down into the water. Kill the combines that drop down and head down the small opening on the right for a little surprise.



Continue around the left and you’ll come outside to an area with water and a large fan of sorts. Hop in the water and swim down to the opening on the left. Swim all the way through, around the corner and hop out. Make a left and head up the stairs there after you kill the barnacle above you. Hop on top of the pipe and run to the far end and around the corner to pop three more barnacles. Continue along the pipe and watch for the steam as you pass. Smash the wood on the right side and hop through. Crouch trough the opening there and swim up to the ladder. Climb out and hit the dirt as a lot of barrels will roll towards you. Kill the combines there and make a left through the corridor opening. Go through until you reach a fence gate and manhacks and continue up the stairs.



Enter the red room there and smash the crates and enter the air duct. Follow it down and you’ll drop down on top of a stack of barrels. Quickly climb the ladder to the top and then shoot a barrel to set of a chain reaction that will destroy everything in the room. Finish of the last few manhacks and then head on top of the large pipe. Follow it to the left and crouch down to land on the walkway there. Enter the red lit room and you’ll enter a room full of pipes. Drop off on to the white pipe leading out from the main center pipe and there will be a valve handle there. Turn it and the water level will rise. Make your way back to the previous room and deal with more manhacks. Now you’ll need to climb down the ladder and swim through the tunnel there to enter the next room.

In here, swim down and smash the boards that are holding large wooden circles in place. Let them float to the top and them hop across to get to the other side. Head up the stairs and you will come outside. Head up the ladder and climb across the boards and drop down to the water below. Head towards the combine that drop down and hop on the barrel beside them. Follow the corridor along past more manhacks and enter the room on the right. Climb the ladder there and make your way across the boards. Drop down when you reach the end and go through the opening.



Now the puddles of wetness here will be radioactive so don’t walk through them. Drop down and through to the encampment where a resistance fighter will give you ammo and fight headcrabs. Continue through killing them as they land in the capsules. Make your way through the headcrabs and zombies and you’ll come to a docking area to get the airboat. Hop in it after the scene and drive to the first gate. Pull over to the right of it and hop out. Walk up the valve handle to turn the control and open the gate. Get back on your boat and head through the now open gate and enter the tunnel.

Water Hazard

Continue driving the airboat down the tunnel here and for now don’t even bother with the mouse to control the boat, it will just screw you right up. Make your way forward and eventually you will come to a red building on the right side. Look up and you’ll also spot the G-Man walking along in front of it. Hop out of the air boat if you like to enter the building and to get yourself some health form a crate in the attic. Hop back in the boat when you’re ready and continue on through the water to a bridge where a guy on top will drop supplies to you. Grab them and the next area will require you to get off the boat and drag 4 blue barrels under water to the cage there to lift the ramp. For two of the barrels, you’ll need top climb the log that leads to the higher level and pull them out of tunnel there.



Do so and the ramp will rise for you to use a jump off point. Head over it and through the next area it will just require running through boards and around land masses until you get to a point where there will be a wooden ramp on the left. Use it and hop over the barricade and head to the right. Eventually you will come to a building on the right. Go around the corner and hop out onto the dock. Climb the ladder, take out the combine and go through the door. Make your way into the next room and there will be some supply rooms and a combine around the corner. Head through the next door to get outside and take out the machine gunner behind the bunker. Head through the door behind him and enter the next room with three more combines. Kill them and head up the stairs on the left. Go through the door there and shoot the barrels to the right. After the swing breaks the door open, an alarm will go off and you need to get back to your boat.



After you reach it, hop on and go through the now smashed open door. Continue forward and when you reach the flames across the water, use the ramp on the right to get through and proceed. Now you will be under heavy fire from rockets and combines but once you reach the tunnel under the bridge it’s clear sailing to the next building. As you approach the doors, the y will close and you’ll be forced back. Go to the door by the dock under the platform and hop off the boat. Shoot the lock and go through the corridor. Grab the 357 off the desk and go through the next door. Kill the combines there and continue till you reach outside. Here there will be a chopper on your ass the whole time so be quick about what you do.



Head up the stairs and to the left and follow the space between containers around to an opening in the fence. Go through the open container there and forward to the fence and then left to the building. Enter the open door and kill the combines and the manhacks inside. Head up the stairs and across the tops of the containers. Kill the few more combines that show up and head down the hallway and clear out the door way to get through. Head down the stairs there and use the health and head outside. Make your way to the left as far as you can, then forward and then to the right. There will be a combine under a sign there. Take him out and then go left of where he was. Climb the ladder there and take out two more combines in the room at the top. Press the button there to open the doors for your boat and climb back down. Run right and then left around the corner and run over to your boat. Hop in and head for the now open doors.

Continue forward towards the boats ahead of you and then make a left. Follow the water along and enter the tunnel when you reach it. Go through and then go left and the chopper will now start to drop mines on you. Stay away from them or drive over them as soon as they land. Continue along the very linear path, through the broken pipe tunnels, around the water bends, using hills as ramps where needed until you come to ramp and a building. If you make the ramp on the right side, you’ll drive across the platform in front of the building and won’t need to stop. If you don’t make it, you’ll need to park the boat on a lift and then head up a ladder into the building above and lift it up to continue. Just after that as you go through the large doors you will finally come to a smoke stack that falls over. If you don’t get under it, wait for the smoke to clear and then just drive full tilt at the lowest part in the center and you’ll bounce over it.



Head for the tunnel directly ahead and you come around to a gate. Back track to the tunnel you came down and there will be a ladder on the left side. Climb it and follow the boards across to the platform and drop off on the next where there is a washing machine. Push it over the edge into the basket below and hop down there. Pull the yellow lever there and the ramp will rise to let you jump over the gate. Make a left and you’ll come to another mesa group compound. Hop off the boat and talk to them as the alien adds a gun to your boat. Leave there and head through the tunnel and make a right through the gate. As you approach the second gate, it will close and a few Combines will enter. Take them out with your fancy new gun and head up the fence ramp on the left side. Ride along the walkway and back down into the water at the end.



Continue through the tunnel at the end and make your way past more combines and barnacles. Make a left at the split and you’ll need to ride up the bank onto a ramp that leads you into another tunnel with zombies and barnacles. Head through there and up a slope at the end and go left as explosive barrels are dropped on you. Head for the next tunnel and make a right as you exit it. Now you will come to a small dead end area with two rocket trucks up top and a boat in the center. Take out the trucks and drive over to the red container on the far side. Hop out of the boat and into the container and shoot the barrels there.



When it opens, hop back on your boat and drive through it and to the left to the ramp and enter the tunnel there. Head left and then right through the next tunnel. As you exit, the gunship will take off from its pad and attack. Keep moving and try to hit the chopper on the bottom as much as possible. When the chopper is tossing out its incredible amount of mines, stay far away from it and go in for the attack after it stops dropping them. When you have nailed it enough times, it will crash and you are free to drive over to the gate and use the valve handle up the ladder next to it.

Go through the gate once it’s open and up the ramp to the building. Kill the combines as they exit the door and then enter it yourself. Kill the remaining inside and get full load of health and weapons. Head back out side and go around the corner and make your way across the bridge. The good ol’ G-Man will be walking away from the area as you approach. Climb down the ladder there and walk over to the control booth. Use the lever there and a hatch will open on the other side. Make your way back to your boat and hop in. Go back to where you fought the chopper and use the logs in the water as a ramp to jump through the hatch you opened.



Black Mesa East

Drive over to orange building on the left side and hop out to climb the ladder. Make your way around the right side of the building and through the fenced area on the right. After the long scene with the doctors and Alyx, you will have the Gravity Gun and you will have met Dog. After the commotion, Dog will take you to the Ravenholm tunnel and you will need to smash the objects in the way to get to the ladder. Shoot the lock on it and then climb up.

We Don’t go to Ravenholm

Make your way forward to the end of the yard and enter the house on the left. The body on the wall should give you a good idea of how to use the saw blades there. Pop the two out of the door frame and enter the next room. Kill the zombies there and continue down the hallway. Kill the few more that appear and then hang a right. Keep going through till you come outside and duck to get past the spinning blade. Head up the stairs after the zombies get taken and enter the next building. Take out the zombies hiding on the left side and go through the door. Go through the next and turn on the spinning blade. When all the zombies are dead, go through the boarded door and hang a left. Make your way around the corner to the left to the fire. Kill the zombies that approach and the man above will talk to you. After he walks back inside, head right and use the valve next to the wall of flames to diminish them.



Follow the alley to more zombies and a dude get fried on the fence. Since you can’t here yet, head back to where the fire was burning in the center with the bodies and use the valve to the left to shut off the fuel to it. When the fire dies, goes through the doorway and into the room on the right. Kill the zombies there and enter the room on the right. Head up the stairs and in the far rear room at the top will be a lever beside the window that over looks the frying body. Pull it and head back out and watch for the new headcrabs. When you reach the fence where the body was frying, climb the ladder and the next few up to the top. Jump across the gap to the other side and Father Gregory will appear again. After he yaps, hop down on to the boards below and head across to the other side. Enter the window and pop the zombie and headcrabs below you. Drop down and smash though the boards.



Make your way outside and there will be 5 zombies that stroll over to say hi. Kill them by flipping the switch on the machinery in front of you and the car will drop and crush them. When they are dead, move to the next group and repeat the same thing. When they are dead, flip the switch and hop on the car and ride it up to the platform there. Walk across to the window and hop inside. Go through the next door and follow the hallway around to another window. Kill the zombies there and walk to the left. Shoot the barrel behind the grate across the street and then move back to the right and blow the barrels there to kill everyone down there. Head to the right across the wooden ramp and across the boards to the other side. Enter the window there and take out the mob of zombies there. Head down the stairs on the far side and you will come out side to meet some new zombies that jump and move real fast.



Take them out as they approach and head forward to the next door on the left. Enter the building there and head past the washing machines and up the stairs. Kill the zombies and headcrabs and head for the roof. When you reach it, you will meet your buddy again and he will toss a shotgun at you. Use it to fight off the two jumpy zombies that appear and head for the church. Jump across the roof to the round water tower across from you. Climb up the ladder and up again to the platform there. Kill the jump zombies and enter building. Press the elevator button and two more will appear. Take them out and hop in the lift when it arrives. Ride it down and head across the boards to the street. Kill the crab covered zombie and head up the opposite board to get over the fence.

Head to the right and then left and go through the alley to the next street. Make a left and follow the street until you can go right and face a few more zombies. Take them out with the barrels there and continue around the corner to the left to come to a stair case. Go up to the room and to the balcony and pull the lever there. Hop over the balcony and land on the street and go right. Go as far as you can to the next right and climb up a stack of boxes there to the roof. From there walk around the boards from roof to roof until you reach the ladder on the far side and your buddy returns. Hop across the gap to the catwalk and enter the building there. Climb back up the scaffolding and enter the room to come across a few enemies. Kill them and head down the stairs and up the ladder in the next room. Kill the head crabs here and go through the door.



Kill the jumpy zombie as he approaches and then head across the board. Make your way to the next roof top and to the back wall. Drop off and head left to the street. Walk against the white railing and hop over at the break in it to the other side. Head over to the staircase and climb up and go through the green door. Enter the building and climb the stairs and ladder to the roof. As you come out to it, your buddy will be there and will tell you to guard yourself as he empties the cart. Take out the jumpy zombies that attack until the cart comes over. Hop in it and flip the lever there to go over to the other side. Talk to your buddy and he’ll lead you along a path to a graveyard. Fight the swarm of zombies in there as you make your way through. When you reach the end, he’ll open a gate for you to run through. Do so and enter the building there.



Slowly drop down the hole, landing on the beams as you go. Shoot the barrels on the ground to kill the mob of crabs as you get closer. Walk over the catwalk to get on the other side of the fence there and drop down on the other side. Walk around the corner and drop down the hole into the water. Swim through and watch out for the barnacle as you swim. Climb over the wooden wall and continue through the next tunnel until you reach the flames. Climb up to the blade machine and pull the lever. It will then shoot up and down the slope taking out the zombies there. Walk up and duck each time it passes and go through the tunnel at the top.



Make your way out to the tracks and head to the right. Follow the tracks all the way past the snipers, to a train car that will have logs on it. Hop on top of it and continue forward to run into some combine soldiers. Take them out and grab the Overwatch rifle. Once they are down, continue along and there will be more on the left side around some cars. Take them out and enter the building there where there will be a fight between more combines and resistance fighters. After the battle, follow the guy into the room and Alyx will tell you to take the buggy along the coast and meet her at a train station. Head out the doorway and you will be on a dock. Hop in the buggy and large electro magnet will drop you on the beach. When it drops you on your head, get out and use the manipulator to flip it back over. Hop in and head for the path leading you up to the road.

Highway 17

Head to the right to grab some boxes of health and then take off down the road through the tunnel to continue the adventure. Head down the road and when you come to a dead end, make a right down the slope on the other side of the barrier and drive along the shore until you come to a wooden fence. Smash through it and continue along another shore line and you will come to a house. You can enter it and clear out the combines inside and grab some goodies. Hop back in your super car and head along the beach some more and past a house with more combines fighting. Just a bit past that, there will be an opening that leads left and will take you to a house with a few resistance fighters around. Hop out and head into the basement of the large building and you will receive the rocket launcher. As the gunship attacks, head back outside and take it down.



Head back to the basement and have a chat and then hop back in your car. Head to the garage to the left of the house and wait for it to open. Head through and you will come to another road block. Head right down the slope and follow it along until you come to another beach. Continue driving and you will come to a building on the right with a dock of sorts and an electro magnet like they used to lift and lower you car. Drive over to it and park your car under it and hop out. Run up the planks of wood to the pier there and head to the left to the crane. Also notice on the right, there is a bridge that is lifted up and needs to be knocked down. Climb the ladder and enter the crane and lower the magnet on to your car. Lift it up and bring it over to the platform on the other side of the gap and drop it there. Then use the magnet to knock down the bridge and to smush the combines firing at you.



When that is all said and done, hop out of the crane and run across the bridge and hop in your pimpmobile. Drive into the building there that will start to fill with soldiers. Kill them and head to the control room at he back and hop out to pull the lever there. When the gate opens, go through and go right and right again to drive through another building. Smash through the glass at the end and drive to the right where you will come to a bunch of cars blocking the road and a gunship flying about. Hop out and the white van there will have rocket ammo in it. Use the cars for cover and take down the gunship. Clear the road with your manipulator and drive on through the next tunnel. Continue driving to the next house on the right and clear it out of combine soldiers. Continue along the road and you will come across little balls like the one Dog was playing with. When they attack they will drain the power from your car and make it stop.



When you see them coming, stop and get out and grab them with the manipulation gun. Fire them off the side into the water and they won’t be a bother anymore. Continue along the road and you will eventually come to a house on the right that has a blue field up blocking the road. Get off the buggy and walk along the side walk and lookup to see the wire there. Follow it along to a truck that is powering it. Use the manipulator to pull the chalks out from under the tires and the truck will roll off the hill destroying the power field. Head back to your buggy and drive through the next tunnel. Continue along the road and you will come to another set of buildings on the right. Kill the combine there and head for the door below the bridge. Enter it and go through another to come outside.
