Also there will be flyers that swoop in and try to put a hurting on you. Use your heavy weapons like rockets and hyperblaster to quickly take off chunks of his life. The dark matter gun will just zip right by him, but will take off some health when it passes him. There is also plenty of ammo and life lying around the area so keep your eyes open for it. Once he is defeated, head to the end of the catwalk and activate the last tower console. Now that all three are activated, you can head for the Nexus core. Head back into the lift and ride it back down to the teleporter. Talk to the squad there and then jump in.

Nexus Core

Once you arrive, head forward and make a left. Continue down the stairs, and some Strogg will appear behind you. Kill them and then enter the door across from the stairs. Make a left and use the panel there to disable the security. Heasd back down the other way and go through the door there. Kill the Strogg that appear and then a lift will arise down the stairs. Kill the Strogg on it and then make your way onto it. Use the control panel on the right side. As the lift starts to lower, some Stroggs will jump in through the glass windows on the walls. After the lift finally stops, kill the large Stroggs there and follow the stairs down and around. Work your way through the corridor and you will eventually come to a large room with a teleporter in the center.

Kill the Strogg in the door to the right and then clear out the rest on the right side. Press the control panel to extend the bridge and then head across to kill the rest of the Strogg there. Enter the door at the far end and follow the corridor around and cross the catwalk. When you do, it will collapse and you will fall down. Kill the swarm of zombies there and make a left through the second opening. Destroy the explosive barrels and zombies in here while watching out for the acid mist that moves from side to side. When it passes, head to the right and through the next opening to find Lanier. Follow him up the stairs and along the ledge killing the Strogg there. Make your way across the catwalk in the center and make your way to the end and make a right to the door there. Continue through and to the door on the far side clearing out everyone you come across. Continue thrugh and you will come to another room with another acid mister. Make a right and head through the door there and you will run into some members of cobra squad.

Walk through the lasers and enter the door and you will run into a new version of Voss. To defeat Voss, you need to whittle down his shields, the orange around his health bar and then start taking off hi health. When his shield goes down, he will run to a panel and recharge his shield so you don’t have much time to wail on him with some heavy hits. Use the lightning gun, nailgun or hyperblaster to take down his shield quickly. Once it is down, hit him hard with rockets until he reaches his recharging station. Once he does, back off and repeat until he is dead. He will also bring in some lesser Stroggs to fight as well, so be sure to clear those out and then concentrate on Voss. Once he is dead, enter the door to the right of where you entered and use the panel to turn off the security system. The rest of the squad will come through and open the next door. Head up the next two flights of stairs and take out the explosive barrels on them before they come at you. Clear out the Stroggs and head through the door to reach outside and a landing ship.

Operation: Last Hope

For this objective, all you need to do is return to the briefing room and listen to the plan of attack. Once the scene is over, head to the armory just outside the briefing room and grab your new shotgun. Once you have it, continue down the hall and follow the signs to the drop pod launch bays and enter your pod.

Walk around to the far side and call the lift down. While it is on its way down, keep taking out the Strogg that continue to teleport into the center. Once it arrives, hop on and ride it to the top. Continue along the corridors and you will eventually come to the elevator. Jump in it and you will be surrounded by blue dots. Once it stops moving, you will get scanned and then attacked. Kill the gladiator and Stroggs and then the iron maiden that pops up out of the grate. When they are dead, jump down into the grate and follow the pipes along to the ladder. Climb up and make your way to the left. At the end of the corridor, take the stairs on the left. Kill the gang of Strogg there and continue till you reach the lift on the left side. Ride it up and use the control panel there to disable security. Ride the lift back down and make your way to the stairs you just came down and make a right at the top.

Enter the two doors there and you will be back at the elevator you rode in. Make your way up the stairs to the left of the large monitor and you will have to face off against some tough opponents here. Kill the few large flame throwing Stroggs here and then some hovering Stroggs will appear. After you take them down, some spiderbots will appear. Kill them and finally the door at the far end will open. Walk across the catwalk and climb down the ladder on the right. Crawl through the opening and hop on the pipes. Walk across them and jump over to the platform. When you land on it, jump on the railing and them onto the slanted pipe. Climb up it and hop off at the top to the right. Crouch through the opening and climb up the ladder. Hop over the railing there, and land on the pipe against the wall. Walk under the walkway to the next slanted pipe. Walk up it and jump across to the platform there and enter the red door there. Walk to the end of the corridor and kill the Strogg that are waiting for you. When you reach the end, go through the red door.

The Nexus

As you cross the catwalk, grab all the weapons and armor you can here and then enter the door at the end to enter the Nexus chamber. When you enter, the Makron will appear once again, but this time you’ll have to deal with him. For the first part of the battle, you will just need to fire at him. No fancy tricks involved, just good old firepower. I preferred using the lightning gun. Just aim at him and keep and firing and circle strafe around him. While you are hitting the Makron, the beam will bounce off and hit the other Stroggs as well. Once this form crashes, teleporters will open up in each corner of the room. Use them to get yourself up to the second floor and to have an advantage over him as well as some health stations. Use the zoom view on the nailgun for this form, since you can just run all over the place and still keep hitting him as long as you are locked on to him. Once he is disposed of, the nexus will appear and it is a giant brain. Shoot the top blue beams where the repair bots are and the shield around the brain will drop. When it does, hammer it with rockets. When it comes back up, hit the blue beams at the top again and continue to pelt the brain with rockets. Soon the brain will be dead and the game will end. Huzzah!
