Gears of War 2 Achievement Guide
GameShark.com helps you rack up the Achievement points in Gears of War 2.

Oh noes! Teh Locust are in ur planet, sinkin' ur citiez! Ha! Seriously though, Marcus Fenix and his fellow Cogs have seen better days. The lightmass bomb from Gears of War ended up doing bupkiss and now the Locust are working to sink Jacinto, humanity's last stronghold against the subterranean invaders. It's enough to make a man want to cry. Well, cry on your own time soldier, as there are Locust hordes to slaughter, and a whole bunch of achievements to get to boot.

The good news is that most of the achievements are very doable with only 40 points from public multiplayer matches. That's not to say that work isn't involved in getting these achievements, but compared to the original Gears of War, these achievements are a walk in the park. A war torn, Locust infested park, but a park nonetheless. Spoilers abound, so you've been warned.

Achievements in GoW2 are cumulative across multiple playthroughs, a point we'll use to our advantage and some achievements like the weapon kill achievements count for kills made in any mode, also something we'll use to our advantage. New to GoW2 is the ability to see your achievement progress in your War Journal. Your progress towards the numbered achievements (kill x number of people with y weapon) is represented with a bar, so you can't get a precise number to know how close you are, but it's better than nothing. One word of warning before we get started. In some cases, you can lose progress towards achievements when shutting down the console in the middle of a game, or quitting out to the dashboard from anywhere but the menus, so if you're looking to get all of the achievements (and why are you reading this if you aren't?) make sure to exit out to the main menu before either shutting down your console or exiting to the dashboard.

Let's get to it. Here's what the achievement format looks like:
