Station Genesis Perimeter
No easy landing here--you begin the mission midair, equipped with a Fareye for sniping hybrids defending the landing site. Before you begin taking out the hybrids, switch to the Carbine to eliminate the drones that fill the airspace above the landing zone. It should only take clearing the air of drones and a couple hybrids before the order to land is given. Once out of the helicopter, walk down from the pad and move up the canyon.
The first set of enemies you'll have to contend with are a bunch of scout drones that emerge from the other side of the archway in front of you. Use the Carbine to destroy them and then move up. Before you engage the squad of hybrids ahead, shoot the Chameleon that rushes up the rocky path and then switch to the Fareye to snipe hybrids at a safe distance. There's quite a few, so exhaust your Fareye ammo with good, clean shots. Start by killing the hybrids closest to you, working to reach those farthest away. You may need to inch forward to reach those hybrids at the far end of the area. Be aware that a second Chameleon will run at you as you make your way deeper into the area.
With this area cleared of hybrids, walk along the far edge to pick up a Bullseye if you're out of Carbine ammo; additionally, you should get a couple hedgehog grenades from deceased hybrids. The next section features an enclosed space populated by a few retreating hybrids that your squadmates can easily eliminated; however, a couple Ravagers will burst through the rocks after they're gone. Hang back and use the rocky sides at the opening of the cave to take shots at them with a Bullseye, leveraging the secondary fire tag. A couple hybrids come in behind them too, so be careful not to rush right in after you're killed the two Ravagers.
After the room is cleared, proceed forward. Ignore the Rossmore on the ground in the middle of the cave. Continue forward and drop down to the base camp. The tent to your left houses a far grenade and Carbine ammo. [INTEL #14: There's a document inside the tent too.] Keep the Bullseye, though, and search for a Magnum outside the tent near some dead scientists. Meet up with your buddies and head toward the entrance to the facility. Your guys will hang back and wait for you to scout out the path ahead, which is riddled with Chimera forces.
Use extreme caution when inching forward through the cave. Have your Magnum cocked for the moment that the enemies start pushing forward. Chuck your grenade right when they do, scurrying backward immediately after. Fire shots with your Magnum, making sure to hit R2 to blast them with the explosive secondary fire. This is a tough section, mainly because the two shielded Chimera dudes here are particularly aggressive and will push through your squadmates and try to get you. Concentrate on eliminating these guys first before killing the hybrids that stream in with them. When the coast is clear, walk up the pathway. A Wraith can be grabbed along the path, which isn't a bad idea for the big fight ahead.
Station Genesis Entrance
Following the brief cutscene, you find yourself in a network of caves fending off leapers. The Wraith comes in handy here, although be careful not to waste precious bullers in the process of shredding them all. After you've killed the first wave of leapers, move back and allow the second wave to funnel in between the rocks toward you for an easier time killing them. Once you've cleared the cave, move forward along the path until you reach a constructed walkway through a set of clear doors. At the first junction, take a right and move all the way down the path until it curves to the left. You should run into a couple of dead scientist from which you can grab an air fuel grenade. There's also a Rossmore, but leave it. Return to the first junction and head toward the second set of doors to continue the mission.
Immediately after opening the doors, enemies will go for your throat. Raise a shield using your Wraith and chew them up using its primary fire. It shouldn't take more than a second or two before they're on the floor. Go through the doors on the other side of the room to continue. Be on guard for a pair of Chameleons in this next section of the hallway. After defeating them, you'll reach an elevator that lands you on the far end of the bridge that you're attempting to seize from Chimera forces.
Load up on Wraith ammo before heading down. You want it fully loaded because you're about to pump all those enemies holding the bridge full of lead. Chuck that air fuel grenade you picked up earlier toward the line of foes at the center of the bridge before firing up the Wraith. Once that grenade is out in the open, they'll turn their attention toward you. Work quickly to kill them using whatever cover you can near the elevator to protect yourself; additionally, hit R2 to launch the Wraith's secondary shield. Note that once the enemies on the bridge are taken down, an elevator will come down and another set of forces will need to be killed. After all of these guys are defeated, scavenge for ammunition and grenades, then board the elevator to the excavation site.
Excavation Site
When the elevator doors open, you're immediately thrust into a firefight against Auger-equipped infantry protected by a shielded walkway. Run up the sloped earth to flank them. Swap out the empty Wraith (or whatever other second weapon you have) with the dropped Auger; you should have a Bullseye or Carbine in your possession as well. Walk through the hallways ahead--there's only one way forward.
Upon reaching the locked door, prime your Auger for use against Chimera nearby. A couple of Auger-equipped foes will bear down on you. Use the corners and walls for cover; moreover, constant move about to evade Auger fire that comes through the walls. Once killed, continue through the halls to reach the generator switch. Flip it, watch the cutscene, and get ready to run.
Escaping the Swarm requires keeping it back with occasional shots from your Carbine or Bullseye as you walk backward to the previously locked door (it's open now). Unload shots at regular intervals as you walk back, being careful to preempt the turns in the walkway. It's very easy to get hung up on the corners, so use the glowing yellow cable as an indicator of where to move. Don't attempt to turn your back at the Swarm and run--it will catch up to you and kill you. Pass through that door and you're safe from the Swarm . . . for the time being.
Continue through the second set of doors, walking down the sloped ground to reach another shielded walkway. Go into the walkway. Turning the corner to the right triggers the Swarm to appear. Immediately turn around and head back. The Swarm will follow you, which is exactly what you want. It should go outside the walkway through vent. As soon as it does that, go forward through the walkway past the point at which you triggered the Swarm to appear. Run down the hallway until you activate the set of doors that prevent the Swarm from chasing after you. [INTEL #15: A path to the right before meeting up with Dr. Malikov is where this document is located.] Move down the hallway to meet up with Dr. Malikov in the Control Room.
Control Room
Dr. Malikov guns it out of the control room following the cutscene and you should follow him. Gawk at the Cloven in the stasis tanks before exiting the experimentation area into the next section. [INTEL #16: The first room to your left after following Dr. Malikov contains this case.]
On the first platform in the next room is a Fareye. Pick it up and snipe at the infantry at the far end of the cavern. As soon as you kill your first enemy, switch to your Bullseye or Carbine and engage the enemies that stream up the left side of the walkway leading up to the platform you're on. Be careful of the drones patrolling the air. You may want to take them out, but any ground forces should be your priority. With the way cleared, head to the elevator and take it to the generators below.
Exit the elevator and listen to Dr. Malikov's explanation of the Swarm. Join him in the center of the generator. Continue to follow him as he navigates through the generator room. You should get to a point in which Dr. Malikov stands in front of a door and the Swarm attempts to break through it. A Ravager will open it, at which point you need to run to the safety of the nearest generator and then unload some bullets to take out the Ravager. There's a Bullseye in the generator if you need the ammo or weapon pick up. Once the Ravager is down, wait for the Swarm to circle around the generator. Prepare to run from the generator to the door that just opened. Run about halfway to it, then turn around and lob shots from the Bullseye at the Swarm to keep it at bay. Once you pass through the doors, you're safe.
Allow Dr. Malikov to unlock the next set of doors. Move into the next room to engage a group of hybrids that appear on the other side. The tag function on the Bullseye comes in handy here, allowing you to tag hybrids and then take cover behind rocks. If you're fast, there's a Wraith you can grab. Launch its secondary fire shield and pummel the elite that rushes toward you, then clear out any remaining hybrids. Continue by following Dr. Malikov.
Generator Platforms
With the knowledge that you must kill the Swarm, take the elevator down to the generators. You need to walk along the piping after exiting the elevator to reach the first generator platform. Immediately pick up the Pulse Cannon right after you reach the platform. Stay inside the center of the generator and tease the Swarm into it. Once you get it into the first generator, hit it with the Pulse Cannon.
The Swarm will momentarily be incapacitated, which means you need to run to the next generator using the bridge that now is laid out for you. Proceed with the same tactic as before, luring the Swarm into the generator in order to shoot it with the Pulse Cannon. Teasing it involves stepping out of the generator's center just slightly and then quickly stepping back in. You can also switch to your secondary weapon to shoot at it, getting its attention that way. Defeating the Swarm requires doing this a third time. When you're squashed it, meet up with Dr. Malikov and follow him to the elevator. Take it to the surface.
Exit the elevator once it reaches the surface (finally) and watch as your means of extraction crashes and burns. Facing the two Titans that appear means dropping the Pulse Cannon in order to pick up the LAARK on the ground immediately after you drop down from the ledge. Work quickly to take out the first Titan. Dealing with two of them is pretty tough, so focus on killing one at a time. Staying alive is a matter of moving constantly and taking cover against the rocks whenever possible. Keep moving to avoid its blasts, chucking any grenades you have at it. There's a spider grenade on the ground near the LAARK that can be particularly useful; although, you can hurt yourself too if you're not careful. Some leapers will crawl toward you after the first Titan goes down, so make sure to clear them out before focusing on the remaining Titan. A Wraith on the opposite side of the area from where the LAARK was can help whittle away the health of the second Titan. With the area clear, proceed through the only path open to you to reach the extraction point when a helicopter will appear to pick you and Dr. Malikov up.
Mission 5: Chicago
Dr. Malikov is safe, but his dire warning about the Chimera activating all of the spires prompts Hale to travel to Chicago.
Chicago Outskirts
Dropped off in the middle of the city, follow Echo Team through the streets. Pick up the Slicer when prompted by your teammate and wield it against an onslaught of Grims that come out in the street ahead. There's a ton of them and will likely get through your line of fire. Melee any enemies that reach the mound of rubble you and the rest of Echo Team are standing on. The Splicer isn't the most effective weapon, so you may just want to switch to the Carbine if you're not aiming to get the "Exotic Weapon Collector" trophy.
With this first section of the road cleared, move up to take on another smaller group of Grims. Stay on the main road, as Grims will corner you if you decide to take shelter in any of the alleyways lining either side. Additionally, taking cover isn't going to help you because the Grims attack with their hands, not bullets. Stand out in the middle of the street and unleash as many bullets or saws as possible. Move back if you're taking damage.
After you've killed all the Grims, continue through the streets until you reach a junction guarded by Hellfire turrets. There's a short cutscene beforehand, so you know you've reached this point when you trigger the scene. Take to the fire escape to climb into the building. When you're inside the building, drop down to the floor below and deactivate the Hellfire turret. Immediately pick up the Fareye to the left of the turret and equip it for sniping at the enemies pinning down Warner in the building across the street. Stay clear of the firing range of the other Hellfire turret.
When you're finished clearing the way for Warner, leave that part of the building to deactivate the next turret. As you can, there's still another turret on Warner's side. Before he can get to it, though, you need to provide support any sniping any enemies blocking his way. After Warner deactivates the turret, go to the roof of the building to the left of the turret you deactivated. You ought to see a last set of turrets of which you can deactivate one. The other must be shut off by Warner. Flip off yours and prepare to take out the large drones that pop out. Use the deactivated turret as a cover point, moving out to take shots on the drones. There's a Magnum and Carbine in the area, if you need the ammunition. The Carbine proves pretty effective against the drones.
All turrets have now been shutdown, which means you can continue into the city by taking the metal grating from the roof into the adjacent building. Drop down through the hole in floor, then bash open the door to continue. Drop down again and you'll be in a flooded area. At the opening in the railing, dive into the water. A fallen patch of roof serves as a cover point from hybrid fire while you're in the water. Briefly use it to heal up and then continue to swim until you reach the sloped patch of roof that allows you to walk up to where the hybrids stand. Move quickly because there's a Fury that will eat you if you stay in the water too long. Once on dry land, Run to a hallway directly in front of where you get out of the water. [INTEL #17: A case at the back of this hallway has this document.] From inside this hallway, you can kill all of the enemies. Some drones steer clear of the hallway's opening, but once you kill all of the hybrids you can walk out and get them.
Moving forward now requires hopping across a series of cars to avoid swimming with the Furies. The path is exceptionally linear and very clear, so just jump from car to car. After a few cars you should be under train tracks, at which point drones will attack you. Destroy them before continuing. Don't go any further than the white van in the water until after you'll destroyed all the drones. When there are no more cars to jump on, continue forward by using the train track and train cars.
A short cinematic plays depicting a less-than graceful jump that lands you at the bottom of a construction yard. The water starts rising, so you must quickly make your way from the ground up platforms to safety. The path is somewhat straightforward. Just run all the way, jumping among ramps to make it to the top. Realize that you cannot backtrack or miss a jump as the water is rising and it contains Furies. If you get stuck, the checkpoint isn't far back and you can try again, keeping an eye for the closest inclined platform.
Cornforth Hotel
Move inside the building and up the stairs, ignoring the Splicer (unless you need it for more trophy kills). You should get to a floor with a hole in it, which you need to drop down. Prepare to assault a few Grims that race toward you. Keep walking forward, eliminating any additional Grims that appear. When you reach the kitchen, swap in the Rossmore that's there.
Another hole in the floor follows the kitchen, but before heading down shoot any Grims you may see. Jump down and clear the room of enemies before heading out into the hallway. Go down the hall and turn right. It's a dead end, so turn around and start walking back to the watery room. A set of double doors will burst open and three Grims ask to have their heads blown off. Enter the next area and head up the stairs.
Michigan Avenue
You leave the relative comfort of the hotel to enter a nasty battle against tons of Chimera forces. Pick up a Carbine and start helping your allies push back the hybrids that have them pressed up against the exterior of the hotel. Use the downed helicopter and circular stone tree enclosure for cover. From the left side of the helicopter you can down a few enemies camped out at a distance before taking out those at closer range. You'll notice that some of the hybrids are firing blue bullets at you instead of the typical yellow ones from a standard Bullseye. These amped up foes are wielding the Bullseye Mark II, which is essentially a more potent upgrade. The bullets are more powerful, although the weapon performs in the exact same manner. Pick up one of these as soon as you can and use it in the fight.
It's a good idea to focus on killing the hybrids that position themselves on the tops of cars first, since they have a superior vantage point. Once you're done that, weave through the cars to take out those that are on the ground. Be careful because the cars will explode if fired upon. You can use this to your advantage, of course. Push the Chimera to the bridge forward from the helicopter. Once you've killed enough hybrids, so shielded enemies will move up. Eliminate them and wait for the checkpoint to hit. At this point, a swarm of drones will fly over the barricade at the other end of the bridge. Take them out and shift your attention to the pair of shielded drones that follow.
A LAARK on the left side of the bridge is a tempting proposition, but it's better to whittle down the shields first. Focus on one drone at a time, firing at the shield with a Bullseye Mark II. Use the tagging secondary fire to lock on and then unload rounds until the entire shield is done away. The drone is extremely vulnerable without the shielding, so you can continue to fire at it with the Bullseye or switch to a Carbine. The LAARK is also an option, but targeting can be tricky due to how quickly the drones move. When you destroy both, air support bombs the two Hellfire turrets guarding the barricade.
Hop over the barricade to encounter another nasty little fight. Not Hellfire turrets or big drones, just a trio of Stalkers instead. Head to the left once you've hit the ground on the other side of the barricade. Ignore the Stalkers for the time being and concentrate on kill the flurry of hybrids on the left side of the battlefield. Crouch and use the concrete landscaping for cover as you take your shots. The Bullseye Mark II is ideal here because you can use the tag function.
When enough of the hybrids have been killed, you can move into the building on the left. More hybrids await inside, as well as a stream of Grims. Kill them all and then pick up a LAARK. Now you need to target the Stalkers. Large drones appear on the scene shortly after you pick up the LAARK and the checkpoint hits, so you need to take them out before continuing your assault on the Stalkers. Some hybrids on the opposite end of the plaza are a nuisance, but it's easier to avoid their fire than actually attempting to kill them. Aim at the Stalkers carefully because there's a real risk of accidentally hitting a window pane and killing yourself in the process. It's best to destroy the Stalker near the building first and then target the two in the central plaza second.
The aforementioned hybrid nuisance at the far end of the plaza is your new objective. Head over there to continue the mission, which now transitions into an effort to neutralize the massive Leviathan.
Uptown
After the cinematic, move through the building by falling down to the next floor through the hole in the ground. Kill the pair of hybrids in front of you and make you way outside the building. Take cover as you move to the left as you'll come under fire from hybrids on the other side of the water. Kill any resistance and then head across the water. You should encounter a couple of shielded elites that are best softened up with a grenade. Keep your distance until you're able to kill them with your Bullseye Mark II. Move up when both are dead.
When crossing over to the next roof from where the elites were standing, some hybrids will fire on you. Take caution as you walk up the pile of rubble and engage them. A Fareye helps to clear the enemies on the rooftop ahead of you, but you first need to protect yourself against rushing suicide bombers. When you've taken care of the few bombers that run toward you, switch to the Fareye and kill the handful of hybrids on the opposite rooftop. Walk across the metal grating to the roof where your dead enemies lie to continue.
Proceed forward until you reach a large makeshift metal grating bridge to another rooftop across the water. Grims will stream out and Auger fire peppers the wall. As always, keep moving to avoid the Auger fire and kill the Grims using a Magnum found right before you step over the metal grate bridge. The secondary explosive is particularly helpful. Cross over to the other building when the way is clear. You may need to head over before all the Augers are dead because they will take cover, forcing you to flank them to take them out. Pick up a dropped Auger and save it.
On the other side, go into the building being careful to kill the Chimera bomber before heading up the stairs. Go up the stairs and grab the Wraith in advance of large drones that appear outside the building. Head back to the top of the stair and activate the Wraith shield. Move down the stairs slowly and aim for the drones, pumping them full of bullets. When you run out, switch to the Carbine (there's one inside the building). With the drones destroyed, you can continue to make you way through the building to the roof.
