100% Prize Bubbles: A total of 18 prize bubbles to be collected here, 15 of which need to be grabbed in a second run through the level. When you begin the level, a cardboard cutout can be triggered with the "Foxhound" sticker given for completing this very level. Smack it on the cardboard to drop a race start point. Grab the two prize bubbles on the platform and then wait for the race to start. Run into the next area, popping another two prize bubbles there. After you clear the room of diamonds, proceed and collect two more prize bubbles in the hall ahead. Complete the next two challenges (there aren't any prize bubbles in these areas). There is a pair waiting to be picked up in the hall right after you destroy the moving ceiling turret. In the next room, avoid the electrified dummies and shoot the diamonds in order to access three prize bubbles in the next hallway. Shoot the electrified switches and jump across the trap platforms to get another two prize bubbles on the other side. The last two prize bubbles in the level are located in the area immediately after the circular sentry. Beat it and you'll run into the final two items.
Ace: Most of the level can be aced without much effort, but you will want to be careful in a couple of spots. First, in the second challenge room do not move too close to the red pillar. Inch close to it in order to shoot at the diamonds, but don't move quickly around it unless you're zipping past it to the other side. Second, it's easy to forget that the platforms in the room with the gauged pillars will fall out from beneath you. Jump quickly to avoid falling into the electrified space below. Third, for each of the rooms containing moving turrets or dummies keep a close watch on their movement and fire. Make this your priority over shooting the diamonds if you want to ace the level. Take your time positioning yourself and evading them; you have all the time in the world to get all the diamonds or beat the bigger baddies--there's no need to rush through killing them and dying in the process.
:: Mission 3: The Mission
With VR training behind you, it's time to head out into the field for some wet work. Otacon gives you the mission parameters at the start of the stage. Before heading in, place the Solid Eye sticker on the cardboard before Otacon to drop a race starting point. You'll want this in order to collect all of the prize bubbles in the level.
The first sequence demands stealth as you sneak past a series of searchlights. You only have one searchlight to contend with in the first room. Use the alcoves to shield yourself from the light, waiting for it to move before jumping back into the foreground. Don't get caught, otherwise a door will slam down on the prize bubbles in the alcove at the end of the first searchlight. In the next room, you deal with two searchlights in tandem. Run into the room as they move to the right, making sure to pop the prize bubble in the first alcove. When you reach the boxes with the point bubbles, jump into the background. Climb those boxes to the platform way in the background. Don't jump up there just yet, though! There's a searchlight up there too that you need to avoid. When the searchlight is all the way to the left, jump up and pull the switch to open a door on the far right. Hop down from the platform after you grab the prize bubble on the right, being careful not to get caught by the searchlights, of course. Go through the now open door, collect the two prize bubbles in the last alcove and continue.
Otacon explains that stealth is no longer necessary and instructs you to pick up the Paintinator. Alright! Now it's down to business. Use the Paintinator on the turrets ahead, firing shots until they explode. Behind the very first turret you encounter is a prize bubble. The next two turrets are easily dealt with, but the two after--one mounted on the ceiling and the other on the ground--are harder. Stay back a fair distance and destroy them before moving forward and collecting the prize bubble in the alcove behind the one stationed on the ground.
Move up to the catapult, but before using it collect the prize bubble sitting in the background and another to the right next to the point bubble crates. With those two prizes in your inventory, fling yourself with the catapult when it's at its lowest angle. Doing this allows you to land on a platform that contains the level's eleventh prize bubble--almost halfway there! Jump over the spikes to the left to return to the catapult. On your second time using it, wait for it to reach its highest angle to land in the next area.
Hit the checkpoint and immediately destroy the two ceiling-mounted turrets. Next, focus fire on the stationary turret on the platform across the way. There's also a turret below you that fires at you, but it's best to avoid it and move on. One last ceiling turret to kill in this area, then proceed to a series of paintball-activated platforms. Firing on the green material causes the platforms to fall, allowing you to get through the area unscathed. When you drop down onto the second platform, however, hop up and to the left. You can walk down a corridor to pick up three prize bubbles. Go back the way you came, continue to activate the platforms to reach the checkpoint above.
You should now be situated above a pair of tanks. Fire on the first one before dropping down; this makes it easier to grab the prize bubble on the ground directly below you. Once on the ground, shoot at the second one and grab another prize bubble in the alcove near it. Yet another prize bubble is located in the adjacent alcove.
Continue walking forward to confront a mini-boss tank. You need to destroy the turret and base. Focus on the turret, using the alcoves for cover when the turret fires. Make sure to mash R1 so that you fire a ton of paintballs at the tank. When the turret has been destroyed, be careful of the explosive that it throws at you. Fire a line of paintballs to try and destroy them as you move to the left side of the area. Concentrate on destroying the base in between waves of explosives. Once the tanks are dust, collect the six prize bubbles that appear and end the level.
100% Prize Bubbles: Follow the walkthrough and you should be able to collect all 23 prize bubbles located in this level.
Ace: Bypassing enemies instead of fighting them saves you the headache of risking your neck; on the other hand, there are some enemies that are easier to kill than avoid. Getting through the first section of the level with the searchlights is easy enough since you can sneak around them to avoid any danger. Once through, you equip the Paintinator and start encountering enemies.
The first series of enemies you face are stationary turrets. Stay back from them and kill them with paintballs. You can try jumping over them, but that's riskier than just shooting them from afar. This first sequence has five turrets, all of which are easier to destroy than bypass. In the next section, however, you're better served by avoiding a couple of the turrets and only destroy a few. The ones mounted in the ceiling need to go, as does the one on the platform across the way. The one firing from below, however, should be ignored.
When you get to the tanks, it's easier to use the alcoves to avoid them then take them on. With the first tank, walk close to it and jump up to plane in the background. Wait for it to pass by you on the left and then jump into the foreground. Quickly run to the right and jump into the first alcove with the rounded ceiling. From there, wait for the right moment when the space between to the two tanks passes you. Use it to quickly move to the next alcove. When the second tank moves to the left, you can run out of the alcove and to the final area.
Defeating the mini-boss tank without dying is a hearty challenge. Your goal should be to destroy the turret and base as quickly as possible; the longer you take, the greater the chance you're likely to get hit by green fireballs or the explosive bundles it throws at you. Use the alcoves for cover when the turret fires and aim wisely, mashing R1 when you have a good shot. When the tank starts chucking explosives, fire a line of paintballs to try and destroy them as you move to the left side of the area. Concentrate on destroying the base and then you're done!
:: Mission 4: The Level Factory
No enemies at the start of this level, but there's still plenty of danger. Before tackling the first platforming sequence of the level, shoot the first of five diamonds hidden in the level. Each one you find unlocks a door at the end of the level containing prize bubbles. Get it and continue forward to reach a paintball-activated device that opens up into a makeshift lift. Use it to grab the first two prize bubbles in the level on the left. Shoot it again to drop it down, allowing you to move forward.
Another lift can be fired on, although you have a couple paths available to you. Jump on the lift and hold off on grabbing the three prize bubbles below; instead, let it rise a bit and then jump to the left above where the first lift is situated. Shoot the two crates attached to the wall to trigger a piece of cardboard. Stamp it with the Gecko sticker to receive four prize bubbles. Move to the right, but don't drop back down. Jump over to the next rooftop to shoot the second diamond in the level. Once you've done that, go ahead and drop back down and nab the three previously identified prize bubbles, then continue forward to the checkpoint.
The area ahead is patrolled by a couple of tanks, the first of which you can destroy before even dropping down into the area. Just angle your Paintinator and fire. Drop into the patrolled area once it's down and venture into the tent to collect a pair of prize bubbles. There's another prize bubble in the next tent, but it's best if you defeat the second tank patrolling the area first. A third tank, as well as ceiling-mounted turrets is your next obstacle. Get rid of the tank first from a distance, turning your attention to the turrets only after the tank is gone. Between this set of turrets is a prize bubble and the third diamond. Note that you have to jump into the background and shoot in order to get it. Destroy the three stationary turrets in the area immediately following the ceiling turrets, making sure to keep your distance and avoid their green fireballs. Before you climb up the platforms to reach the checkpoint, pop the prize bubble in the background right where the first stationary turret was sitting.
Read Otacon's message and then shoot the crate lining the wall to the left. This prompts a piece of cardboard that you stamp with the sticker of Otacon's head. Four prize bubbles drop as a reward. Getting through the electrified spinner located to the right of the prize bubbles is not difficult: just shoot a couple of paintballs at it to move it a bit. As it moves, walk with it to avoid being fried. Right after exiting the spinner, you're faced with a field of spikes that you can jump over using three lifts. Shoot the first one and jump on it, and then shoot the second one. Jump on that one, shooting the third as you do. Hop onto the last one and then hit the checkpoint.
