Acing Act 4: This is probably the hardest of the levels to ace because you can't avoid fighting the turrets, particularly during the elevator sequence. That said, it's not as hard as you might think. Concentrating your paintball fire and taking your time are the best strategies for making it through alive. Follow the walkthrough above to get through, paying extra care not to die, obviously.
:: Rexecutioner (Bronze): Destroy the Metal Gear Rex boss
Unlocked upon completing Act 5: The Boss. Just follow the guide above and you'll unlock the trophy.
:: QuickFire Artiste (Bronze): Fire 40 paintballs in under 5 seconds
You can get this easy trophy by quickly tapping R1 in succession. Don't hold down R1 because the Paintinator has too slow a rate of fire for you to unlock the trophy this way; instead, find a spot where you're safe and just jam on R1 until the trophy unlocks.
:: Speedy Rexecutioner (Silver): Destroy the Metal Gear Rex boss in under 2 mins 30 seconds
Once you've beaten Metal Gear Rex, you shouldn't have any trouble beating it a second time for this hasty trophy. The key here is aiming. Time is conserved by situating the Paintinator at the correct angles for hitting Metal Gear Rex's weak points. First, angle your Paintinator to reach the initial weak spot at the machine's rear. Jam on R1 quickly to lob as many paintballs as possible. You want to destroy the weak point in one go. Immediately after it is destroyed, explosive barrels fall from above; just keep firing paintballs to destroy them before they reach the floor. After that, avoid the green fireballs that it fires by jumping over them or walking out of the way. You want to avoid dying because it eats away precious seconds. Next, situate yourself next to the first leg and prepare to repeatedly press R1 when the weak point there appears. Be careful to avoid the shots it lobs at you. The third weak point appears after Metal Gear Rex fires satellite beams that destroy sections of the platform you're standing on. Avoid the beams and unload paintballs on the weak spot that opens up at the center of the machine. As soon as it goes down, jump to the opposite end of the room. Jump up to the next field onto the platform there. All of the other platforms will fall down and you're left in a shielded box to face Metal Gear Rex and its final weak point. Hitting it means jumping up and firing paintballs when green fireballs are not flying overhead. You can also jump onto a small ledge on the left of the platform and angle your Paintinator to shoot the spot quickly. Either way works. Once Metal Gear Rex falls, quickly move to the end of the stage and collect the trophy. Do note: the entire stage is timed, so run to the end to avoid sabotaging yourself!
:: Virtual Survivor (Silver): Achieve a score of 3,750 in the VR Survival Challenge
The VR Survival Challenge is not among the main levels; instead, you unlock it following Act 2. It's an optional challenge that pits you against a series of automated turrets and ground forces enclosed in a small room. Your goal, with respect to unlocking the trophy, is to score 3,750 points. Since it's a survival challenge, the level only ends when you die. You do lose points upon death (approximately 150), so getting a final tally of 3,750 actually requires earning 3,900-4,000 points. Racking up points is done by defeating the turrets and the rolling enemies that appear at intervals on the ground. It's best to tap R1 to fire a fast stream of paintballs at an angle at the turrets overhead to quickly dispatch them. Whenever an enemy appears on either side on the ground, quickly take it out. You're more likely to die from one of them than turret fire. Patience is key as you will likely need to play through several times to understand the patterns by which the turrets fire and reappear, as well as the intervals at which enemies appear from the sides of the room. Not one strategy works universally, but figure out what works best for your style of play. Staying put in one area works, although pacing from side to side while avoiding turret fire is a legitimate tactic as well. Either way, commit the attack patterns to memory, keep a sharp eye on obstacles, and try your best.
