Red Faction Order – Catch and Release

Since you want to keep Col. Broga’s vehicle intact in this congested area, now would be a good time to test out the Nano Rifle. There will be a rail-shooting segment ahead. Keep an eye out for flyers and propaganda for your Achievements.

Red Faction Order – Emergency Response

You have a mild lead to neutralize the checkpoints before the supply truck rolls in. The driver will try to force his way through if you take too long though. The first checkpoint is a simple skirmish. At the second checkpoint, watch out for the overhead turret and sprint for the western corner to find a light walker. It will be invaluable for defeating the inbound reinforcements, as well as the following events, so keep it in good condition.

Assuming that the walker is still in your possession, use its jetpack to fly over the cliffs leading to the EDF Badlands Outpost (High Importance Target). You know what to do from here. If you failed to keep the walker intact, destroying this target is possible, but difficult due to the large amount of enemies. There are a lot of explosive objects in the area that you can use to your advantage, but mostly it is a straightforward battle of shooting and taking cover.

You should do Transporter runs and Guerilla Actions now, because some of them use the main bridge, which won’t be around for much longer. Alternatively, you can return later in the game (after leaving Eos) to find the bridge rebuilt. If you followed my advice regarding the Nano Rifle’s upgrades, toppling the Harrington Memorial Bridge (High Importance Target) is incredibly easy. Quietly approach the underside through the canyon. Shoot out the diagonal struts connecting the bridge to the pillars. Take your time, because no one is going to bother you until it’s too late.

Get your Guerilla Actions done and EDF control to zero, and head to the second floor of the Control Tower (Medium Importance Target). There are Singularity Bombs on the table. You can now destroy the building, but do not use the Singularity Bombs.

Red Faction Order – Air Traffic Control

Bring your Singularity Bombs and Nano Rifle. There will be five gunships to sabotage. Alarms sound as soon as you approach and the gunships will take off shortly afterwards. Speed is extremely important, so forget about the time-consuming altimeter charges that Sam gave you. The main entrance is both the safest and quickest route inside. Sprint towards the first objective, hammer down the guard, and plant a Singularity Bomb beneath the gunship. Don’t stop to watch the show though. Repeat the process for the next three ships and use the Nano Rifle on the last one. Done properly, the mission shouldn’t take much more than a minute from entrance to exit. If you encounter a problem and gunships start taking off, aim for the wings with the Nano Rifle.

Oasis

Oasis is a hazardous place for a member of Red Faction. One of the first raids on the EDF Barracks (begins east of the Ark Reactor) will teach you that. You might get the bright idea to sneak through the back and take out the main structure right away. The trouble is, you’re about to get ambushed by Marauders and the back of the barracks is ground-zero for numerous explosions. There is a nice jump to the west for launching an unmanned vehicle though.

Open your map and plot a course for the smokestacks. Two shots with the Nano Rifle are all it takes to bring one down, so start lining them up. You won’t need to worry about further tasks with the smokestacks and a few more Guerilla Actions under your belt. Just in case, here are a few tips for handling two High Importance Targets. You can never have too much salvage. Bring medium/long-range explosives and the Nano Rifle.

Ark Power Reactor

Skip the zig-zag path through the barricades. Check your map and you will see a shortcut running southwest from the Core. “Shortcut” may be the wrong word, but this path will give you a fantastic view of the target. A single shot to one of the four, adjacent cylinder should be enough to start an explosive chain-reaction.

EDF Convoy Station

You probably noticed that I prefer the path of least resistance, and this scenario epitomizes that preference. You can easily bypass about five levels of security by climbing the foothills to the west. Navigate the ridge toward the back of the Station and use an explosive on the side of the structure. Most likely, other explosive materials in the area will take care of the rest.

Red Faction Order – Access Denied

Save the walker next to the depot for later. After clearing out the depot for your teammates, head to the roadblock and dispatch the single APC. The second wave will drive through the valley immediately west with a little more firepower. Use the bridge for as a vantage point to drop explosives, and watch out for any survivors on foot. A rocket launcher is mentioned, which is directly southwest of the depot. I recommend skipping it and going straight for the walker, ASAP. The EDF doesn’t play around in the final assault. You’ll need every ounce of power and maneuverability that you can get to keep them at bay. Whatever you do, try not to smash the building.

Red Faction Order – Blitzkrieg

Bring Remote Charges or a Rocket Launcher. The tanks will begin rolling immediately, so hurry south and prepare your explosives beneath the Oasis archway. On your way to the second wave, to the north, you will pass through a residential area with heavy crossfire. Keep your eyes on the left side and make a pit-stop when you see the combat walker. The tanks are no match for the walker’s barrage of missiles, but it will be difficult to keep the walker intact for the final wave. The final wave is split in two sections – one in the immediate vicinity and one southeast. If you managed to keep the walker, watch your six and, if 100% morale isn’t your goal, expect to inflict friendly fire for the greater good of liberation.

Upon completion, warp to the Parker safehouse to get further orders and buy a bonafide, sci-fi jetpack.

Free Fire Zone

Red Faction Order – Guns of Tharsis

It isn’t necessary to tear through the waypoints at full speed, especially since crashing and reversing are likely to get you blown up. After the artillery range, work your way through the enemy compound to destroy the power sources for the guns. With so much heat on you, consider using a vehicle to open a wall on the driver’s side so that you can safely exit the vehicle inside the structure to plant Remote Charges. Another good method is to use the jetpack to get on top of the structures and hammer a small hole in the top. The power sources are highly explosive, so it won’t take much to destroy them.
