Hogan Returns For One More Match, Batista Defends World Heavyweight Title Against Triple H at Backlash Pay-Per-View MAY 1, 2005
WWE Backlash is an annual pay-per-view event that began in 1999 and is the first major event to take place after WrestleMania. As such a lot of the grudges and epic battles that occur during WrestleMania usually end up spilling over into Backlash main events - and this year is no exception. On the card so far at this year's Backlash are such superstars as Triple H, Batista, Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, Edge, Chris Benoit, Shelton Benjamin, Chris Jericho, Muhammad Hassan and Daivari. Full match details can be found below, with more matches expected to be added to the line-up before the PPV kicks off on May 1st.
TRIPLE H vs. BATISTA II
, WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: The ten time WWE World Champion Triple H takes on "The Animal" Dave Batista in a rematch from WrestleMania that has the potential to be the most explosive and violent bout of 2005. Can Triple H finish Batista's world championship reign with the Pedigree or is Batista as unstoppable as his fans think he is? We'll find out soon enough.
HASSAN & DAIVARI vs. MICHAELS & HOGAN
: Shawn Michaels has been attacked multiple times by the bold and arrogant Muhammad Hassan and his manager Daivari for weeks and wants revenge - and he's called in legendary wrestling icon Hulk Hogan to help him get the job done! Can this legendary team-up take down Muhammad Hassan and Daivari or will Michaels find himself at the receiving end of another savage beating. May 1st will write the latest chapter in this ongoing feud.
SHELTON BENJAMIN vs. CHRIS JERICHO
, INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP: Chris Jericho has been in a bit of a rut since he lost the Intercontinental Championship to Shelton Benjamin in October at the Taboo Tuesday PPV, and he thinks he can turn things around by winning the title back at Backlash. But the long running champion says that Jericho doesn't have what it takes to regain the title. Jericho will attempt to prove him wrong at Backlash as he shows Benjamin that he's not the only WWE superstar that has extreme athleticism and in-ring ability. Considering Jericho's past accomplishments he could very well be the next IC champion.
CHIS BENOIT vs. EDGE
, LAST MAN STANDING:
Edge and Chris Benoit re-ignite their rivalry at Backlash in a Last Man Standing Match. Both men will walk into Backlash, but only one man will walk out as "the Last Man Standing." It's anybody's guess who that man will be but you can expect an exciting back and forth battle filled with technical wrestling, fisticuffs and lots of submissions.
