Miramax Films announced today that ONCE IN A LIFETIME will be released on July 7th in New York City exclusively, and will then open in select theatres nationwide in the following weeks. It was 1977 in the midst of blackouts, riots, the Son of Sam serial killer scare and the dawn of Studio 54, that an entirely unexpected moment of inspiration happened: the rise of the New York Cosmos, America’s first great soccer team and the larger-than-life superstar, Pelé. Suddenly embraced by a city obsessed with celebrity and flamboyance, the Cosmos kicked off America’s first passionate love affair with the world’s most popular sport & found themselves swept up in a careening path of glory, glamour, debauchery and controversy. ONCE IN A LIFETIME tells this compelling tale, revealing the rise, high points and low points in a compelling an exciting way. The film is rated PG-13. This martial arts film offers some wonderful fight scenes buried underneath an awful plot.
This DVD may have a lot of star power but its paper thin plot, bad acting and terrible fight scenes make it a lesson in why some movies shouldn't be imported..
Congratulations to the winners!
