Company hires former THQ heavyweight to focus on Western gaming.

Capcom today announced the appointment of Germaine Gioia to serve as Capcom Entertainment's senior vice president of licensing. In this newly created position, Gioia will be responsible for elevating Capcom’s profile globally in the licensing community in order to attract the right properties to expand business in North America and Europe. Gioia will seek be charged with creating collaborative relationships with leaders from other mediums to create new intellectual properties as well as elevate established entertainment IPs to greater heights in the video game marketplace. Gioia will work out of Capcom’s Los Angeles office to achieve these objectives.

Gioia joins Capcom after working 13 years at videogame publisher THQ. There Gioia was responsible for THQ's global efforts to secure licensed content for the company's broad portfolio of interactive entertainment content including intellectual property and talent for console, PC, handheld and mobile game platforms, and managing the company's licensor, talent and entertainment agency relationships. Her contributions led to continued leadership in the youth market, wrestling and motocross genres.
