UltraViolet Review

UltraViolet offers grand fight scenes and an awful storyline...
Date: Tuesday, March 07, 2006
Author: Will 'Jayson' Hill

Nick Chinlund plays bad guy Daxus, kind of a Surgeon General gone evil. Unfortunately his every attempt to come off as menacing almost invariably evokes a snicker and a great embarrassment for the tripe he is given to say in the script. To say he is a two-dimensional villain is almost an insult to the term "two-dimensional villain."

UltraViolet is a little like going to a good fight where periodically a bad movie breaks out. The action sequences with two-fisted blades flashing and guns blazing are exciting enough, but the attempt to string them together with a story that actually touches the viewer in any intelligent way is a lost battle. For making the fighting good and the story bad, UltraViolet gets a below average "C-" score.
