Obviously the game has certain edge to it; in your mind, what is the very best thing about Blitz the League? What makes you guys want to play it as gamers and not necessarily as its developers?

The Unleash Moves still make me cringe, wince, and occasionally, cry like a baby, to be honest, but I have to really say that the overall slow-mo “Clash” mechanic has just worked out so much better than any of us expected. This game constantly feels new because we’re always seeing new types of unexpected plays coming out of all the things you can do by slowing down time.

A personal peeve of mine with a lot of football games is that it's very hard to distinguish the star player from the middle of the road player. Is this something that we'll be able to notice in Blitz? Do the star players, the captains that you are highlighting on your website for example, stand out?

You’re right, our star players absolutely have to stand out. Peter Egan wrote the history behind The League and it’s teams, but we can’t expect you to know it all right away. So you might have seen our Team Captain intro videos that have been released – they’re loaded with character. We want you to right away to know a lot about the key personality you’re about to face and what he’s about on and off the field. His strengths, his weaknesses, and sometimes his taste in women. You’ll use it against him, and hopefully not the other way around. You will fear Quentin Sands. That is, unless you really enjoy pain or something.

Is the anything else you'd like to add?

There really hasn’t been an unlicensed sports game since the days of the 8-Bit NES, and I can’t wait for everyone to see all the things that we’ve been missing. There will be a choice for people when it comes to football games, no matter what deal is signed. And I have to say that it’s a relief and a thrill to make the Blitz we’ve all been thinking about for so many years – I really think (and hope!) everyone will enjoy it.

Editor's Note: Blitz The League is set to ship for Xbox and PS2 next month. You can learn more about this promising football title by visiting the game's official site - blitzleague.com .
