8. Ninja Gaiden – Alma Battle (Xbox)
As if the game wasn't horrifyingly difficult to start with, the first time you face off against the lightning quick and pretty in pink Alma you’ll quickly learn what a real boss fight is like.
To survive against her non-stop attacks, you need to be quick on your toes and never stop moving. Seriously. If you stop for one second you are stone cold dead. Alma will hit you with everything she has and everything within reach. All the damage you can deal to her really does little in terms of wearing her down, so you need to keep at it. Not stopping, always moving….for a very long time. Repeating this fight over and over is terribly high on the frustration meter.
7. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – Crash and Burn (PS2)
This particular event gets a special mention because of its total and utter awfulness. Why you were forced to steal planes in a game about stealing cars is beyond me and after the night time harrier missions over the deserts of San Andreas, they could have been cut from the game, stepped on, spit on and then set on fire as far as I’m concerned.
For this one particularly frustrating mission, you had to fly the harrier jet through hoops in the sky, while at the same time, avoiding enemy planes that were on the lookout for you. Most of the mission was bearable, but there was one damn hoop that had denied me so many times that I literally didn't play again for a couple weeks.
6. Driv3r – The Entire Frigging Game (PC, PS2, Xbox)
Driver put you in the shoes of a man named Tanner and into world of indestructible objects. For a game called "driver" this game had some of the most frustrating world physics ever. While driving around, which was 90% of the game, there were certain things that would bring your joy riding to a halt. Police and gun-toting enemies are the norm, while small trees, sign poles and even curbs are not. While trying to make a fast getaway from the po-po and being stopped dead in your tracks because you hit a 3 inch curb was enough to make you cock your head to the side and gaze at the screen in befuddlement.
