Demigod Q&A
We get a quick sit down with Mike Marr, lead designer at Gas Powered Games on the upcoming RTS: Demigod.

Hi Mike. For the uninitiated, can you give us an idea of what Demigod is all about?

Demigod is a team based action game that blurs the line between RTS and RPG. You fight and play the game as an RTS, but level up, purchase abilities in a skill tree and buy items like you would in an RPG.

Is there a fear that all of these ideas will muddy the waters a bit? That’s a lot of stuff to throw into one project.

No fear at all. It’s like peanut butter and chocolate. Two great tastes that go great together.

The various Demigods sound fantastic – any personal favorites? And how many will be available at launch? Any desire to add more down the road?

I have several favorites- if I had to call one specific Demigod out, I’d say that right now I’m enjoying Sedna. What makes Sedna unique amongst the Demigods is that instead of being focused on dealing direct damage she has a variety of team support skills, such as healing and increasing the casting capabilities of other Demigods. There will be eight Demigods at launch with more to come. And oh, yes, I want to add more!

Aside from your chosen Demigod, what other toys do you have at your disposal?

Each General Demigod (as opposed to Assassin Demigods) has a special Minion of their own. For example, Oak can raise spirits from the dead and Sedna can summon Yetis. In addition to these special Minions each General can control a common pool of Minions. There are 12 common pool minions that are separated into three categories; melee, ranged siege and support.
