The daytime setting does add an unnerving appeal to the game and the new special infected make your heart jump the first time you run into them. While the original Special Infected are still present, The Charger, Spitter and Jockey are the three new specials we ran into, and while the first two weren’t all that difficult to deal with, the Jockey on the other hand was a different beast all together. As I saw it rushing towards me, I lined up my cross hair on its forehead and as I was about to pull off the shot, it leapt at me and swung on to my back.

As I tried to walk to my teammates so they could help get the thing off me, the Jockey had something else in mind. Stumbling around, trying to fight for control, I noticed it was forcing me to walk through an archway. As I uncontrollably went through the opening, he then forced me to walk into a car, which then set off the car’s alarm, and then in turn alerted the horde and brought a whole new calamity to the game other then the disfigured and somewhat repulsive monkey on my back. Needless to say, I didn’t last too much longer after.

Deciding to save the most anticipated for last, I made my way over to the black curtain housing Infinity Ward and was ushered into a small room with two large screens. The two reps wasted no time in informing us that there was to be no film or pictures as they fired up the game and jumped into showing us first hand a mode called Spec Ops. The mode is the third gametype that Modern Warfare 2 will include, outside of the singleplayer campaign and the multiplayer.

Spec Ops is a mode that will allow players to play co-op through individual missions, separate from the single player campaign to complete specified objectives. The one we were shown was called Breach and Clear and involved the two players setting an explosive to blow a hole in a wall and then proceeding inside to clear out all the enemies found within. The showing was short in length but gave a great experience of the intense gameplay and some of the new weapons that could be found, like the riot shield. Once the enemies were cleared and the players hopped down an opening and it was all over and we were lead out out to make room for others to get a glimpse of the frenetic action.

Big time kudos go out to Microsoft Canada for putting on such a fantastic event and allowing its community and fans an early chance to play some of the most anticipated games heading our way in the coming months.
