Activision has received a letter from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission requesting certain documents and information related to its stock option grant practices. Activision just one of 80 companies the SEC is investigating for possible manipulation of stock option grants to executives. These investigations are an attempt to find companies that may have manipulated the grant dates of options to boost their value to recipients -- like executives.

Activision says it intends to cooperate fully and respond to the SEC inquiry. The company behind such hits as Call of Duty, Tony Hawk, Quake and Spider-Man saw a dip in stock prices today as a result of the news.
