Zelda - Twilight Princess
A testament to the power of gaming and a reminder to us all about why we actually do spend hours and hours with a controller in hand, The Legend of Zelda – Twilight Princess takes you on a journey of over 40 hours that will have you doing everything and anything with your Wii remote as you attempt to liberate Hyrule. Not the graphic powerhouse you have been trained to expect from the ‘Next Generation’, Zelda nonetheless makes up for the less than striking visuals with its story and varied gameplay, all of which you’ve probably seen before, but not done this well and all on one disc. - Thomas Gerbasi, GameShark Contributor.

Wii Sports
Wii Sports, what many expected to be the Duck Hunt of the Wii generation, proves to be much more compelling and appealing to a wide variety of people. This would-be sports title is a collection of fun sports activities including bowling, golf, tennis and more that takes great advantage of the Wii controller, which in turn makes it accessible to women, old people, youngsters, teens and the hardcore gamer crowd. While this freebie from Nintendo was expected to be a shallow game experience to tide you over until Zelda, this game collection is getting all the buzz and all the hype because everyone is playing it. Wii Sports, like Warioware for the DS is simple clever fun for everyone and that's why it's the second greatest Wii game of 2006.

Trauma Center: Second Opinion
What many expected to be a no hassle port of Atlus' popular DS title Trauma Center: Under the Knife proved to be a much deeper experience that was well suited for Nintendo's next-generation console system. This medical simulation that could be best described as "Operation Meets Anime," really takes advantage of the Wii's controller and adds a lot of neat new extras to this compelling game concept including slick graphics and animation, new surgical tools, new types of medical procedures, a second playable character, multiple difficulty modes; and voice acting that enhances the drama as it unfolds and adds tension to each situation. Second Opinion on the Wii fits like a latex glove on a physician and deserves to be highlighted as one of the most unique games on the Wii in 2006.

Madden NFL
Of all the games that landed on multiple platforms this year, it is perhaps only Madden on the Wii that gave gamers a completely unique and new gaming experience. This was done by adding a special control scheme that takes advantage of the Wii's motion sensor in concert with traditional button pushes that makes Madden a fun and entertaining football experience. The Wii version of Maddden is probably the best of the breed released in 2006. EA Sports deserves accolades for taking a chance with this title and offering something different that rewards players for being patient and relearning how to play Madden in a whole new way. For that and its high levels of fun and engaging gameplay moments, Madden on the Wii gets some well deserved accolades on our list.

Rayman Raving Rabbids
What's cuter than Ubisoft's popular icon Rayman? A cast of hundreds of crazy invading rabbits called Rabbids in this Wii launch title Rayman Raving Rabbids. Raving indeed are these cute and crazy invaders as they assail Rayman at every turn. But it is not only the cool cast of lunatics that makes this latest Rayman game rock. Rayman Raving Rabbids is the next-generation console's answer to Mario Party with lots of cool activities and mini-games set in bizarre and well crafted environments that are eye catching and at times inspiring. For its myriad of cool activities and its cast of cute cuddly bunnies that seem to be on crack, Rayman Raving Rabbids deserves some acknowledgement for being cool and fun without being shallow.
