Scarface: The World is Yours
While the Xbox is in its golden years at this point, there are still quite a few decent games coming out on the system. In
2006 the number of releases landing on Microsoft's last generation system seemed to come to a screeching halt, but a few
decent releases managed to make an impression. One of the most surprising games, a movie tie-in based on the classic Al
Pacino film, Scarface, managed to capture the imagination of Xbox gamers in North America. Besides its considerable success
at retail, Scarface The World is Yours is actually a decent game - and that's saying a lot about a game tied to a feature
length film. Scarface starts out with a ludicrous plot where Tony manages to survive the events of the film, and works
to rebuild his empire through a series of freeform missions that involve shooting and driving on the streets of Miami. While
the game starts out with a pretty far-fetched plot path (there's no way Tony survived the final scene in the movie), the
action picks up immediately and is a lot of fun. For giving us one of the year's best movie-inspired game titles in 2006,
Scarface: The World is yours deserves the title of Best Xbox Game of 2006. |

| Splinter Cell Double Agent
Sam Fisher's swansong mission on the Xbox, Splinter Cell: Double Agent, proves to be the most compelling and intense iteration of the series yet. The series that began on Microsoft's Xbox gets a chapter that takes advantage of the familiar Splinter Cell stealth and action gameplay along with a new decision based element that lets players make good and dark choices that affect how the game flows. There's a lot to do in Double Agent including some well designed single-player action, coop play for two players, and some brand new multiplayer action that is worth jumping into. For offering an entirely unique gaming experience and delivering some compelling game content to Xbox owners, Splinter Cell Double Agent earns a well deserved spot on our list |
