The Top Five Biggest Disappointment of 2007:
If there was one task more difficult than picking the best game of 2007 it's picking the biggest disappointment of the year. In a year when there so many great games that moved the industry forward there were plenty of gut-wrenching, stomach churning, disappointments as well. While these five games are in no way the worst games of 2007 (THAT list would fill a tome the depth and breadth of which hasn't been seen since War and Peace), they are the ones that let us down the most.

#1 Hellgate London
How could this have missed? Former team from Blizzard, including the face of the company, Bill Roper, forms a new studio to make a 3D Diablo-like game set in a demon infested London. How can that not be fun?

It was a dud.

Maybe we're all just tired of the clickety-clickety design of Diablo and its ilk? Maybe it was the state of the game upon release? Maybe it was the boring single player campaign? Or the interface problems? Or the silly skill system? Or the promise of an MMO-like multiplayer experience that fell flat?

Whatever the reason there's no denying that Hellgate came with a lot of hype but ended up being just another middle of the road action RPG full of neat ideas but poor execution -- and while Diablo II is still being played (and bought) today, Hellgate will most likely end up being a mere footnote.
