Bloodbath and DeathWatch Challenges

As you score your way through a level, Bloodbath Challenges will unlock to give you the opportunity to score even more points. Once you see that one is unlocked, head over to the challenge and the challenge will automatically initiate. Watch the introductory cut scene to see what you're supposed to do and then have at it. DeathWatch challenges are challenges that are present within the level at all times, such as score a certain number of points or kill/rescue all of a certain type of thing. Completing DeathWatch challenges give you a bunch of extra points, however not all DeathWatch challenges are available from the outset. Check your minimap for the challenges currently applicable to the area you're in and keep them in mind as you conduct your bloody business. Not all DeathWatch Challenges will be unlocked at all times, so as you play through the game multiple times, make sure you're checking your map to see what new challenges have been unlocked. Check the end of this guide for a list of all of the DeathWatch challenges.

Exploring

Keep in mind that this guide highlights the items and weapons that you'll get as your score climbs in each level. It is in no way a complete listing of every item available on every level. Take time to explore levels. Blow things up with exploding zombies, walk up a catapult, take the time to check out all of the levels and you'll find even more weapons, extra lives and other items to make your time easier. Just be mindful of how much time you have left on the clock, remembering that your 30 minute time limit includes beating the boss for the level. At any point in the game you can see how much time you have left by pressing the "-" button and checking out your mini-map screen. A few extra minutes spent exploring may be the difference between beating a boss and replaying the level. That being said, completing the game using only the items obtained in this guide is 100% doable, as I personally used these items, and only these items to get Jack up to #1 on the DeathWatch charts, and in my heart. Oh Jack, you're so dreamy!

Varrigan City

Central Station

Ah, the obligatory tutorial. You won't get any points for all of these kills, but you will learn a whole host of moves such as your basic fist swipes and chainsaw swipes as well as advanced moves and contextual kills. Your enemies in this level, and pretty much all of Varrigan City for that matter, are pretty docile so just grab and kill my friend, grab and kill. Once you've followed all of your directions, it's time to put your skills to the test. Jump over the pile of busted up cars and enter the next area. Oh look, playmates! The goal here is to score 20,000 points by killing all of these losers. There's plenty here to use for such a paltry goal, so get started. Pick up tires and slam them over your foes, jam signposts into folks, go crazy! If you pick up an enemy and throw them into the dumpster, the dumpster lid will slam shut, cutting your enemy in half. Additionally, you can either impale enemies on the spiked bus, repeatedly if you follow the right gestures, or you can dump someone into a flaming barrel. Fun! Have fun and kill people as creatively as possible as practice for your road ahead. Kill enough people to score 20,000 points and your first Bloodbath Challenge will open up. Welcome to The Turbinator!

Bloodbath Challenge: The Turbinator

The object of The Turbinator is to knock dudes into the Danger Zone (the area on the floor with the word 'Danger') so that they get sucked into the giant turbine and chewed up. You have a number of ways to do this, ranging from picking up one guy, stunning him with a headbutt and then tossing them in with a vertical swipe or doing the same thing, only throwing him with a horizontal swipe, hopefully knocking in additional guys for a double or triple kill. You can also use Jack's shoulder charge to knock guys into the turbine, just be sure that you don't go into the Danger Zone yourself and get sucked in. However you decide to do it, make human hamburger until time runs out. Once the Bloodbath Challenge is over, Varrigan Station is open to you.

Varrigan Station

Now that all of that fancy book learning is out of the way, it's time to start the games proper. Once you enter Varrigan Station you have 30 minutes to score 1.6 million points and enter a boss battle with Little Eddie. Some points of interest in Varrigan Station.

1.) There's a Jack balloon on top of the newsstand. Jump up on the planter to get it.

2.) You can shove enemies into the toilets in the bathrooms as well as throw guys into the electrified fences. The various signs can be destroyed revealing spikes just perfect for jamming guys onto.

3.) Scoring 800,000 points brings out the Spiked Train. You can either knock guys onto the tracks to have them get hit by the train, or stun someone and then hold them up to the train as it speeds by.

4.) At 1,000,000 points a Mayhem Dispenser will open with a Spiked Bat. Remember to check your minimap for the location. The A button does some normal swipes while holding down the B button and then performing a horizontal swipe will cause Jack to swing for the fences, or more appropriately, swing to knock a guy's head off for the fences.

5.) At 1,200,000 points the Big Bull Crocker will enter the ring. These guys are big, can't be grabbed and sport a double chainsaw as well more hit points. He'll charge at you, which means you'll want to dodge him. When you see him do a little one legged hop before a move, try and initiate a power struggle so that you can take him out. Otherwise, dodging and jumping chainsaw attacks are your friend here. When you kill him, pick up his head and slam it into another enemy.

6.) At 1,400,000 points you unlock the next Bloodbath Challenge, the Rocket Reamer!

Bloodbath Challenge: Rocket Reamer

This one is pretty simple, try and knock guys into the path of the incoming train. The trick here though is to not knock guys onto the path too early as they'll get up and leave the tracks. You can either wait for the ten second countdown to well, count down and then start chucking dudes, or try to stun the crap out of them and then throw them. If you grabbed the bat, why not use it to knock guys into the train as it passes by? Just make sure that if you end up on the tracks, you get back up on the platform before the train comes. Once the challenge is over, mop up whatever additional scoring you need to so that you get to 1.6 million points and unlock your very first boss, Little Eddie

Boss Battle: Little Eddie

As the commentators so astutely point out, Little Eddie ain't so little. Young Edward's main attack is to swing that giant ball and chain at your head. Wait until he has finished swinging then run in and carve up his ankles. Do this enough times and he'll fall down, allowing you to beat on him however you see fit. If Eddie grabs you, perform the necessary movements to bust free and give Eddie a little love tap on his eyeball. Just keep evading and slashing until you get Eddie's life bar all of the way down, then approach and hold either A or B for the finishing spectacle. Congratulations on your shiny new 178 ranking.

Varrigan City

Downtown

Continue exploring Varrigan City with the goal of 1.75 million points to face off against Jude the Dude. It's numbered list time!

1.) That tire, flaming barrel and first enemy seem like a match made in heaven.

2.) In the first building, all of those boxes can be busted open. Some contain Happy Pills. Either save the boxes to be busted open if you need a quick fix, or bust them open and just remember to come back for your meds.

3.) Make use of the fans upstairs to score 60,000 points and get a spiked bat. Follow your mini-map to the bat and then use it to have all sorts of fun.

4.) At 250,000 points you'll unlock the Death Press bloodbath challenge.

Bloodbath Challenge: Death Press

Similar to the Rocket Reamer, the goal here is to stun guys and throw them under the press. If you don't stun them, or you throw them too soon, they'll get up before the press shuts down. If you pick up that cash suitcase and bust it over the head of someone under the press, the resulting flurries of cash will draw all of your enemies under the press for you. Just don't get caught under there when looking for the suitcase. If you throw someone under the press and they start to get back up, throw someone else into them and both will get stunned. Keep chucking dudes until the time runs out.

5.) Be mindful of the additional Big Bull Crockers that show up. Remember, dodging is your friend. Once you score 750,000 points check your mini-map for the location of a Jack Balloon and an extra life.

6.) At 950,000 you'll receive the daggers. The daggers are awesome. Hold down the B button and shake the Wiimote to send Jack into a spinning dance of death. He can be controlled with the C-stick so aim for as many guys as possible to slice their arms off but leave them still alive for additional punishment.

7.) Once you score 1.1 million, the next Bloodbath Challenge is open so head on over for some Man Darts.

Bloodbath Challenge: Man Darts

First of all, don't undertake this challenge with any bull guys around as they're hella annoying. The goal here is to use the spiked bat to knock guys into the dartboard and score as many points as possible. Traditional dart scoring applies so the highest scores are in the ring around the bulls eye (that's a triple score for all of you non-barhoppers). Pick a spot about halfway from the dart board, plant your feet, let the enemies come to you and swing away. If you keep holding down the B button after hitting someone, you have some control over their body by using the C-stick, but it's minimal. Enemies will still come at you as you're doing the challenge, so do what you have to in order to evade getting hit. Keep hitting away until the timer runs out.

8.) Keep on killing to reach 1.75 million and a fight with Jude the Dude.
