Mission One: Birds of a Feather

Still awake? Good. That was one hell of a long cut scene but now it’s time to kick some Dante butt. Now that you are in control of Nero, simply follow the on screen instructions to fight Dante. There’s nothing overly difficult here since it is a simple tutorial level to get you familiar with the controls. First up you will need to shoot at Dante five times and then you will need to jump over Dante’s gunfire three times as he fires left to right. Next up you will need to roll out of the way of his gunfire another three times and then sit back for another cut scene. After the scene, it’s time for some sword fighting. Pull off a combo by pressing Y four times and make sure it hits Dante. It won’t count if it doesn’t. Do that three times and then watch and another scene. Almost done here but now you need to learn how to use the Devil Bringer. Grab Dante and toss him three times and then you will need to face off against him for real. To beat Dante the quickest, just give him four busters – a grab with the Devil Bringer – and he’ll go down in a snap.

Mission Two:La Porte de L’Enfer

Now it’s time for some action. As you enter the courtyard, a few scarecrows will appear. Take them out as they come and head to the far end of the path. Enter the doors on the right and go through to the next room. Smash up some barrels for some orbs and then head up the stairs. Once at the top, head down the hallway and you’ll face off against a few more scarecrows. Kill them all to unseal the door and head through it. Head down the path way a few steps and turn down the corridor to the left. Enter the door and you will be in the cathedral. Head down the stairs to the very bottom and activate the blue pillar with the skull inside it.

This will give you the ability to use your Devil Bringer for the Hell Bound move which will let you zip across from point to point using the grim grip spots. Head back up to the middle level and use the grim grip spot there. Use RB (or the PC equivalent) to lock on to the latch point and press B to go for a ride. Follow the path to the next grip spot and continue through the door at the end of the hall. Now that you are back outside, head to the next grip spot and zip across to the other side. Head to the right and there will be a secret mission marker here. Use it if you like, but if not, just continue to the right and zip up to the next balcony. Fight a few more scarecrows here and use the grip after they are defeated. Guess what now! Yep more scarecrows! Put the beat down on this batch and then head through the door that is now unlocked. Make the long jump down to the ground and head to the right, down the ramp.

Unleash the inner vandal in you and smash up all the crates and boxes along the way. To the left at the next ramp, there will be a large crystal that you can smash for oodles of red orbs. Continue following the only way you can go until you come to a large door. Head through and you will come to the shipyard. Head left to follow the dock and use the grip at the end to zip to the next dock. Head up the stairs and continue to the door to enter the building. Kill off the scarecrows inside and head to the blue circular mechanism by the stairs. Give it a few whacks with your sword and head up the stairs to the left. Jump up to the top level and enter the door. Follow the catwalk to the control panel and hit the button to lower the bridge below you.

Head back inside and back down and out the same way you came in. Grim grip across to the first dock and go to the left and across the bridge to the large door. Now that you are in the first mining area, follow the hallway to the open area and use the hell bound move a couple times to get to the top. Smash up the statue to get a blue orb fragment and continue to the right through the large door. Head up the stairs and get ready for a fight.

For the first true boss of the game, they aren’t holding back. Berial is a giant fire demon and has an even bigger sword that he likes to smack you around with. To take down Berial, you’ll need to jump towards his head and use the Devil Bringer to get closer. Once you are near it, start swiping away with combos while targeting his melon. After a few successful strikes, his fire will go out and he will drop to his knees. When he does, smack him around a bit more with a combo or two, and then use the buster on him for some heavy damage.

When he gets back up, he’ll attack with a wide and long range burst of flame that spreads out across the entire area. Do your best to avoid it by jumping over it and rush him again for another charge to his head. If you try to attack his hind quarters, he’ll swipe back with his sword, so focus on the head and keep the combos coming. Once his flames go out again, repeat the same moves and he will eventually drop for this round. If you are in need of health during the fight, lure him to the buildings that surround the area and let him smash them. There will be some green orbs inside for you to use. Once the fight is over, head up the stairs and go through the cave to end the mission.
