If not, pick and choose carefully which lasers to jump over and when. Once you get to the other side, go through the door and drop down to the ground. Take out the enemies here and then head to the doorway that had the red seal. Inside will be a pedestal to use the cronus key and slow down the fan in the center of the room. When you get to the top, hop over the ledge that has the closed door and go through to reach experiment disposal. Kill off some Angels in here and smash up the red crystal and head for the purple pillar in the next room. Use it and it will lift you up to another level. Enter the meeting room for a meeting with some more angels and then head down the hallway to the door at the end. The secret mission is here to the left as is a store to the right. Go through the door and you will have to face off against good old Dante once more.

This can the hardest or the easiest boss fight in the game. It’s one of the hardest if you choose to take Dante on face to face. It’s probably the easiest if you cheese him. I like cheese so that’s what I did. Jump on top of the platform in the center of the room and stand right at the edge of it facing outwards. Wait for Dante to come close to you and he’ll jump up to come to you. When he jumps up, buster him and you will slam him into the ground. If you are not at the very edge of the roof, you will slam him into the top of the roof and he will get up and give you some hits. If you are right at the edge, you will slam him into the ground below and he will need to jump up to reach you once again and you can buster him all over. If you do slam him into the top of the roof, simply jump down and run to the other side and jump back up again. Wait for Dante to jump up and ….that’s right, snatch him and drive him into the ground again. It doesn’t take long and is a super cheesy way to beat him, but it works wonderfully.

Mission Eleven: The Ninth Circle

You start the mission in the Advent Chamber and need to immediately head up the stairs to the left. Use the mechanism there to make some grim grips pots appear. Snatch them quick and launch up to the next floor before they disappear. Make your way to the lift and use the red pedestal to call it after you have taken out the enemies that appear. Once you use it, more lifts will appear around the room. Head to the right and you will come to a door with pressure plates on either side.

Stand on it and snatch a scarecrow to land on the other one and go through the door. Continue up the stairs and you will come to a store and some grim grip spots. You’ll need air hike here to get over the last jump, so get to the Divine Statue and buy it before doing this. You will also want to pick up Snatch 3 if you don’t have it for the upcoming boss fight. Jump across grip to grip and double jump over the wall at the end. Repeat the same for the next set and then you will come to a mechanism that will make more grip spots appear. Zip on up them and you will come to a red pedestal that will lower the lift down below, beside the statue you were just at. Hop your way back down there and then ride the lift up to meet the next boss.

I have a theory that all old people are crazy and this boss fight help reinforce that. Now you are face to face with Sanctus and he will float around in his Magneto like bubble with two orbs in front of him. The main goal here is to use the Devil Bringer to grab the orbs to get off the ground and then zip from the orbs to Sanctus. While you are at Sanctus’s bubble, start hacking away at it until it smashes and the old coot goes tumbling to the ground. Sanctus will have a few attacks of his own to keep you from reaching him including sending the orbs at you, shooting fireballs and casting pillars of flame towards you. Much like Agnus, he will talk a lot during the fight and will make it known what he is going to do. When you do manage to burst his bubble, walk over to him and unleash a combo on him and then buster him for one hell of a combo.

This will take off major damage and then he will float up again and you will need to repeat the process once again. Once you drop him down to about ¾ of his health, he will jump over to the Savior and the next part of the battle will begin. This second part is just like the first except that if you don’t break his bubble fast enough, he will go into the Savior and attack you with its massive fists. Jump or roll out of the way of the hands as they crash down and wait for Sanctus to appear in his bubble again. Use the same techniques as the first part of the battle to wear out the little health he has remaining.

This concludes the Nero section of DMC4 -- come back tomorrow for Part II when you get to play as Dante.
