To take advantage of Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network, there will be online tournaments held every two weeks that will allow players to compete and see how well they match up with other players across the globe. After the two week tournament, it resets and another starts allowing gamers to give it another go. Online gameplay will also include exhibition and doubles which unfortunately will only be playable from two consoles against each other and not four.

Of the four systems that the game will be available, only the 360 and the PlayStation 3 will have the online modes, but the Nintendo Wii and DS versions will have mini-games included to help make up for the lack of online features. Not much was discussed about the mini and party games, but given the play styles of the Wii and DS, it’s a safe bet that they will be just as fun as the full game.

Top Spin 3 is looking to regain its standing atop the tennis game world and from what we have seen and heard so far, it’s taking the right steps in doing so. The true test will be how it is accepted from tennis fans, old and newcomers alike, when it is released at the end of June.
