Beginning today, and going forward GameShark is going to pick one game as our Game of the Week every Friday. We'll pick a game for this honor based on a number of random factors (call it a whim if you want) that could include community buzz, because it captures our attention, because it is cool or because we just dig it. For every single great game out there there's at least a dozen that suck, so it seems only fair that we elevate those very few and rare games that are excellent or interesting. Our very first pick is a no-brainer, but the main reason behind our choice is that it is simply a juggernaut amongst fans, at retail and is a generally cool, crazy, awesome product:
World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade
Forget about the fact that this game has taken retail by storm and that when people couldn't find the Collector's Edition in stores they resorted to slogging through the mire and muck of eBay; The Burning Crusade is easily one of the best expansion to an online game we've seen. This expansion really shakes the foundations of Azeroth with new characters, new places to explore, new PVP and RvR content and a host of other additional content, gameplay tweaks and refinements. Lately i've been pretty amazed at how a game machine capable of running WoW or even this new expansion has trouble with games that are of lower quality. From a technical standpoint The Burning Crusade purrs along like a kitten in most cases, and while the expansion is not without its own shares of bugs and glitches here and there, it still manages to run without a hitch on most machines.
But even putting that aside, The Burning Crusade expands the World of Warcraft perfectly for players of all stripes and offers plenty of new content to keep addicted players on the wagon for months to come. Burning Crusade truly is a testament to the creativity and the technical wizardry of the boys and girls at Blizzard, and that is why we are proud to name it our Game of the Week.
