At QuakeCon 2007 last year, id Software announced that they were working on a web based version of their classic multiplayer shooter, Quake 3 Arena. The game called Quake Zero, would be a free, downloadable game and would be playable by just about anyone with a half decent computer. Coming out of the GDC today, id has confirmed that the title has been changed to Quake Live and will also feature in-game advertising from ad broker, IGA World Wide. Quake Live looks to resurrect the fast paced action and destruction that Quake 3 players were so fond of seven years ago with this new iteration of the game, while adding some impressive features including; friends lists, sponsored events, tournaments, matchmaking, stats tracking, all of which will be delivered free of charge through the web browser at QuakeLive.com.
