Scheduled to launch yesterday, Tuesday April 8, 2008, EverQuest II game update #44 gives players a chance to embrace their evil side as the Shard of Hate will be accessible to all mortals throughout the high-fantasy, online world of Norrath. The Shard of Hate is open to high-level raid groups, resulting in increased hostility and unbridled hate amongst the virtual population.

Players can access a portal to the Shard of Hate from Neriak or the Nektulos Forest, where the additional power granted to the Dead will help in their fight against good. In addition, two new armored mounts are available, and players will also be able to customize their Norrath homes with items such as a hate filled soul box, or a tranquil version of the soul box, completing their allegiance for good or bad.
