When gamers first participated in the Battlefield: Bad Company Beta earlier this month, they were shocked to see that some weapons could only be unlocked by purchasing them over the Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

Once gamers caught wind of the news, EA tried to calm the storm by revealing that 5 of the 10 weapons would be available at launch through promotions and the other 5 would be available with the purchase of the Gold Collector’s Edition or purchased separately on Xbox LIVE.

The news didn’t sit well with gamers that weapons still had to by purchased one way or another and EA has finally come around, telling GameSpot that the weapons will no longer need to be purchased at all. For those that buy the regular edition, the 5 weapons that come with the Collector’s Edition will now be unlocked as players get promoted through ranks in the game, with the other 5 weapons still remaining as promotional and pre-order incentives that will be available at time of the games launch.
