Disgaea 4 Map Editor Scaled Back
NIS America scales back the feature list for popular RPG.

NIS America announced that the map editor that will be available in its upcoming RPG A Promise Unforgotten will have what the company calls "minor restrictions." When the feature was announced NIS America promised a fully fledged editing tool that would let players create entire maps from scratch. Today it sounds like the map editor has been scaled back significantly. Here is what NIS America says about the change:

"Regarding Disgaea 4's map edit system, regulation differences between regions made it very difficult to keep in. However, thanks to all the help from our development team and SCEA, we were able to keep the system by making just some minor design adjustments," said NIS America producer Jack Niida. "Players won't be able to create a completely detailed map, but this new system is still a great way to expand the Disgaea universe and share your own creations with players around the nation."

The adjustments to the map editor include the following:

-Instead of individual blocks to create maps, a number of preset “landforms” will be available for users to create their own maps.

-Multiples of the same object, not including geo blocks or characters, cannot be placed next to or on top of each other.

-Character/map names and descriptions will be randomized.

Disgaea 4 ships in September for the PS3.
