Nexon America announced this week that revenues have jumped 38 percent in the second quarter compared to the same period a year ago.
Nexon America claims that it has been able to retain and attract players with its free online games and a mictrotransaction-based business model that allows customers to pay for in-game items to enhance their game play experience.
“The second quarter was an example of us doing what we do best,” said Daniel Kim, Nexon America’s CEO. “We delivered compelling content that kept our players coming back to take on adventures and have fun in our games, regardless of whether they pay a few dollars or play for free.”
During the second quarter, Nexon America delivered new content for all of its games, including premiering the Chaos saga content to MapleStory, adding the Romeo & Juliet update to Mabinogi and making Dungeon Fighter Online and Vindictus more accessible by removing play-time barriers. Additionally, both Dungeon Fighter Online and Vindictus added huge chunks of content, which helped grow revenues from those games.
The amount of cash raked in during the quarter was not disclosed.
