Sid Meier's Pirates!

The present day versions of Sid Meier's Pirates! games are based on the classic 1987 game of the same name published by now defunct Microprose. That early game mixed some key elements to give players the thrill of being a pirate in the Spanish Main in the 16th to 18th centuries, allowing them to sail the seas, engage in ship-to-ship combat, have sword fights, choose a wife, and more. In its day Sid Meier's swashbuckling simulation was a marvelously innovative game and considered by those old enough to know the original one of the best games of all time.

The new games, which began on the PC, and then on to Xbox in 2005 proved to be just as wonderful as the original, even adding some great new features like the ballroom dance mini-game, improved ship combat and an excellent dueling system.

The PSP version of Sid Meir's Pirates! continues the trend of delivering excellent and compelling gameplay for a whole new generation of gamers. Beyond providing the same kind of decent gameplay found on the PC and Xbox versions of the game, the PSP version offers wireless multiplayer for up to 4 players, new multiplayer maps, all new treasure hunting and controls that work very well on the PSP. Sid Meier's Pirates! on the PSP is simply an awesome game that is worth the price of admission, and that's why it's GameShark's Game of the Week.
