This Week In Downloads – November 30th Edition
All the news that's fit to print about downloads for the week ending November 30th, 2007.

The live arcade game this week was Asteroids and Asteroids Deluxe together for the price of 400 MS Points. No way I’m paying $5 for two really old games so Atari did what any Live developer does and made the asteroids look prettier and in HD. Still not worth $5 in my book but hey I know we have some Achievement Point gatherers out there….

In other news, some new David Bowie cover songs were added to Rock Band. You can look for new music every week apparently. The David Bowie songs, aside from Heroes, really aren’t that well known and to be honest, Heroes isn’t really a song I think of when drumming but hey, someone out there will like it. Speaking of music, there is a new Halo song for Guitar Hero 3 and the price is right == free!

A demo for Half Life 2 was released last week, which is absolutely worth noting, so if you haven’t picked up the Orange Box yet, make sure you grab that demo to see what you are missing.

GameTap

GameTap is up next and for the past couple of weeks they’ve gone Virtual Console on us, only releasing three games per week. TOCA Race Driver 3, Mad Gear and Gore: Ultimate Soldier round out the offerings. Of course you shouldn’t confuse Gore: Ultimate Soldier with Gore: Nobel Prize winner, mainly because that’s a whole different game.

Wii Virtual Console

Finally, over on the Virtual Console, we also have three games for that platform: the Super NES snoozer “Vegas Stakes”, the Sega Genesis snoozer “Ecco Jr.,” and by far the best game of the lot, Konami’s Double Dribble on the NES. Double Dribble is one of my personal favorite sports games (with Super Basketball a close second – why didn’t that ever go to the NES!!) and if you can get over the Atari 2600-esque flickering (it was tough to do 5-on-5 back then), you will have a blast. I think the AI in this game is better than some of the more recent basketball games!

In this person’s opinion, the PS3 had the best content of the week – PAIN wins hands down! That wraps up the final November edition of TWID. See you next month (that’s next Friday by the way..Fooled you!).
