GameTap

While that wrapped up the Xbox for the week, we are only halfway on our download tour. Next up is GameTap which has three unknown games but two of which may be worth your time if you can get them to work. First up is the odd marble/checkers-esque game Surakarta. Let’s just say the sounds of the marbles crashing were good and that’s about it. The next game, Shadowgrounds Survivor has been on Steam for some time and has generally received positive reviews. I’d love to tell you more about the game, but it requires that wonderful PhysX drivers which have yet to work on my Vista Quad core PC. So, we’ll just have to take the words of others about it being a good game. Finally is a game called “I of the Dragon” which sounds like a Prince song. I would really, really, really like to try that Shadowgrounds game but I’m not having any luck and I have a deadline. (We’re working on a full review of this; look for it soon -- ed)

PlayStation Network

Finally on our tour we come to the PlayStation Network and all good things must come to an end. You see, we’ve had a great run on the PSN but this week for new games, we have none. For demos, we have none. We do have some patches to some Rock Band tracks as well as the NIN and No Doubt songs mentioned above for the 360. There are two new in game characters for PAIN, one is a karate guy named Hung-Lo (no horrible racist references here, heh) and a new Pirate character named Scurv Dogg, which I guess is Snoop’s brother. Each character costs about a buck each, and you know if you like PAIN the game, you’ll grab them. Some new MLB videos and some Blu Ray trailers round out the scant offerings on the PSN.

So that’s it for this week in Downloads, special leap year edition. We’ll see you again in 2012. I’ll be really depressed about that week’s Rock Band Downloads, I’m sure.
