The GameShark Top Ten: Frustrating Moments in Gaming
While narrowing down all the frustrating moments in gaming is an impossible task, we asked our News Director to wax poetic about his trials and tribulations from God of War to...Mario Party? He'll have to explain...

Driver also had some other equally frustrating qualities to it as well such as the missions where you had to trail an enemy car. If you got too far behind, you'd fail. Understandable at some points, but when you can still see the car you are following right in front of you and you fail, it is indeed a frustrating pill to swallow.

5. Gears of War – The Co-Op Split (Xbox 360)

Gears of War isn't frustrating you say? Perhaps not when playing alone, but while playing the Co-Op campaign, there are parts of the game that can be utterly frustrating, especially on the harder difficulties. The parts I'm referring to are where you need to split up and take separate paths. Thankfully they are few and far between, but when they do show up, depending on the skill of your teammate, they may take some time to get past.

An example is when you are in the mines right before you face the Theron guards. Although on this one, you can do your best to help the other player along his path, chances are you'll be too bogged down in locusts of your own to pay attention to what he’s doing. Having successfully cleared your path by the skin of your teeth only to die moments later because your buddy timed a reload wrong and got took down while you were patting yourself on the back for a job well done is not an honorable death, nor an acceptable one.

4. Grand Theft Auto – Randomness (PS2, Xbox, Xbox 360)

Another GTA moment. The Grand Theft Auto series is known for many things: excessive violence, fantastic and diverse missions, etc. One aspect that tends to stick out across each chapter is the absolute randomness of the game. Ask anyone who has played GTA III, San Andreas, Vice City or GTA IV and they will have more than one story to tell about how their mission was ruined because of some unforeseen action on the part of the game itself.

Having cars diverge into you as you try to chase down a fleeing car is not unheard of, nor is it to watch the car you are chasing totally wipe right out and crash ruining the mission for you because you had to catch the person alive. There are many things in GTA missions that can go horribly wrong and unfortunately they do from time to time. While it’s not such a bad thing for some missions, the missions that take forever to complete with no save points can be more than a little annoying when it happens. Losing a long mission by absolutely no fault of your own is just plain frustrating.
