Brutal Legend

Poor Tim Schafer. He's notorious for being one of the greatest yet unappreciated designers, to the point that I think some people unconsciously ignore him by default. Well, pay attention. Brutal Legend is all about the power of rock, but not in a crappy School of Rock kind of way. We're talking headbanging, hotrodding, flame-spewing power chords kind of rock mixed with fluidly raucous hack-n-slashing. Plus, it has Lemmy from Motorhead - the greatest metal band ever, and that's fact, not opinion.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor

It's like Persona, except that instead of fighting the clock to make friends, you fight the clock to keep them alive. The Shin Megami Tensei series has always had some of the most provocative stories in the role-playing genre, if not all of gaming. Combined with a battle-system similar to Persona, Atlus would have to try to screw this one up.

So there you have it. The games we are 100% certain* will be award winning titles** in 2009!

* Not Really.

** Wow, that's just blatantly false.
