Black Rock Studio in Danger
Disney Interactive confirms layoffs.
Date: Thursday, May 05, 2011
Author: Brian Rowe

Black Rock Studio is the developer behind Pure (2008) and Split/Second, of which the latter was among the most critically acclaimed racing games of 2010. Black Rock Studio had been working on a sequel to Split/Second until December, when new management canceled the project and layed off 700 Disney Interactive employees.

What has Black Rock Studio been doing all of this time? If Eurogamer's source is correct, much of the studio has been "sitting around doing nothing for months," despite presenting Disney Interactive with numerous concepts.

Eurogamer reports that approximately 100 jobs will be cut as early as tomorrow morning.
