Thankfully, the new control scheme works beautifully, proving that yes, there really was a point to porting this backwards-compatible game after all. You control Olimar with the Nunchuck and select and throw your pikmin with the Wii-mote. Throws are more accurate than they ever were on the Gamecube, and using your whistle (in order to call your troops in to you) is much easier thanks to the responsive pointer. If only the damn whistle itself was a little less obnoxious...

Pikmin virgins and curious Wii owners should definitely take a look at this quirky, satisfying little game, especially if they have a craving for something a bit different. Vets will probably be fine with their dusty GC copies, but this is certainly a game worth experiencing, in its old or waggle-enhanced form.
