Recently Turbine and Midway launched The Lord of the Rings Online and the early buzz surrounding this game has been pretty positive. Why? Well, in Lord of the Rings Online, Turbine recreates a portion of Middle-earth (with more areas to be rolled in as time goes on) including the Shire, Bree-land, Rivendell, and the Old Forest. LOTR Online is also the only MMOG based on the Books of J.R.R. Tolkien, and while that might sound like marketing speak, how many other games will let you jump into the furry feet of a hobbit? You'll also meet the likes of Gandalf, the Fellowship and deadly enemies including Nazgūl, Trolls, and Uruk-Hai. The Lord of the Rings Online is the only gateway into the world of Middle-earth you'll find, save some solo experiences on the Xbox, and Turbine is doing a nice job of jump starting the world - they have already released free content for the game!

For letting you become a Hobbit and for giving you the opportunity to shake the virtual hand of the great wizard Gandalf, The Lord of the Rings Online earns the distinction of being GameShark's Game of the Week!
