Demigod Q&A
We get a quick sit down with Mike Marr, lead designer at Gas Powered Games on the upcoming RTS: Demigod.

There is no choice to create a truly custom Demigod from the start of the game. Do you feel this could turn off those who love to tinker right out of the gate? How much can you personalize your Demigod as the game progresses?

One of the difficult decisions game designers are faced with is what to put into their games and what not to. I personally feel that Demigod is the better for not offering a full-level of tinkering and staying true to its calling- team based combat.

Each Demigod has roughly 30 skills, a unique favor item to equip for a match and nine inventory slots. Between all of that there’s a huge amount of personalization you can give to your Demigod during the course of a match.

What sort of multiplayer options will be available? I’ve read about a persistent online world – how will that work?

Demigod has two primary multiplayer options- Skirmish and Pantheon. In Skirmish you can play up to a 5v5 with a plethora of game options and modes to customize the game however you want. The game modes are; Slaughter (Team DeathMatch), Conquest (Kill the enemies Citadel), Domination (Control the map) and Fortress (Destroy several enemy buildings).

In the Pantheon players join up with other players online to fight in a global persistent struggle between the Forces of Light and Darkness that takes places over several weeks and through hundreds of matches.

In Pantheon play, here are four Demigods fighting on the Forces of Light and four on the Forces of Darkness. As players fight in the Pantheon they earn Favor Points for their chosen side. The first side to earn enough Favor Points wins the Pantheon.

For those wanting to play solo, how much attention has been given to the CPU AI? Are there various levels of AI in the game?

We’ve paid quite a bit of attention to the CPU AI and continue to do so as the game comes to a close. The game offers four levels of AI difficulty, easy, normal, hard and nightmare.

What about the game, if you had to choose one thing, do you feel gamers will enjoy most about Demigod? What’s the big hook?

The big hook for Demigod is team based action that pits you and your buddies against the AI or other human opponents in a game that is a cross between RTS and RPG. There’s very few things like it and it is incredibly fun.

We'd like to thank Mike for taking the time to chat with us. Demigod will be available April 14. For more information check out the official website .
