The Lord of the Rings Online is the first MMO title to feature support for DirectX 10 API and NVIDIA GeForce graphics processors, says Turbine. Turbine's award-winning MMO set in Middle-earth will benifit from key features of DirectX 10 and including upgraded shaders for water, particle effects and lighting for distant terrain and dynamic shadowing features for real-time shadows in out inviornments. In layman's terms, it looks real pretty. Turbine says that it worked closely with NVIDIA to provide the most comprehensive support of Microsoft's API. While this announcement probably won't make you love Vista if you don't already, it will at least take away the sting of having to play LOTR Online under its yoke of oppression.
