In a conference call yesterday by THQ CEO Brian Farrell, it was confirmed that the first person shooter series, Red Faction, would be getting a third installment. The original game followed the story of rebel groups fighting the Ultor Corporation deep in the mines of Mars and used the interactive Geo-Mod technology for its environments, which allowed players to virtually blast a hole through anything in the planet surface, making for some interesting and unique gameplay. It was also confirmed that THQ’s studio Volition would be creating the third act, as they had done for the previous two. Red Faction 3 is being created for the Xbox 360, PS3 and the PC gaming platforms. Don’t expect the game anytime in the near future, but do expect THQ to release more details quite soon.

Owing to the lack of an overarching storyline, Mount & Blade is a game that’s difficult to get into at first. If you can get past the growing pains, however, it offers a compelling, dynamic world that you are free to explore at your leisure and a combat model that is both frenetic and addicting.
