It’s that time again to start making plans to head to the middle of Texas in the middle of summer. Id Software has announced the dates for their QuakeCon 2008 event and this year it will be held July 31st - August 3rd, 2008 in Dallas, TX at the Hilton Anatole Hotel.

QuakeCon will once again host North America's largest BYOC (Bring-Your-Own-Computer) LAN party, as well as an expanded exhibits area with nearly 60 companies demonstrating their latest products and of course, it wouldn't be QuakeCon without highly-competitive tournaments for serious cash and bragging rights, parties, contests, entertainment and announcements.

As always, QuakeCon is free of charge to enter, although booking ahead for hotel rooms is highly recommended. Hit up the QuakeCon page to learn more about making reservations, and the show itself. Although no details have been given yet about the tournaments and prizes, registration for the BYOC area will start at 9pm EST on April 30th, 2008.

High-definition audio output not doing it for you? Can’t afford the luxury of a gigantic screen? In that case, the Gyroxus chair may be another option for becoming completely immersed in your favorite games.
Owing to the lack of an overarching storyline, Mount & Blade is a game that’s difficult to get into at first. If you can get past the growing pains, however, it offers a compelling, dynamic world that you are free to explore at your leisure and a combat model that is both frenetic and addicting.
