Lord British Takes on NCsoft
Suing the MMO Publisher for Millions lost
Date: Thursday, May 07, 2009
Author: Jeff McAllister

A couple months ago it was revealed that Lord British and Ncsoft had parted ways, in which seemed to be an amicable decision. According the latest from Game Politics , apparently, not so much as it turns out. Lord British, otherwise known to normal folks as Richard Gariott, has filed a law suit against NCSoft stating that NCsoft was guilty of breach of contract, fraud and negligent misrepresentation which has resulted in him to have suffered "more than $27,000,000 in actual damages."

Wowzers.

The issue comes down to Gariott being terminated during his “space tour” and NCsoft saying he had voluntarily resigned, which Gariott whole heartedly denies. If Gariott had resigned, then his stock options would have been terminated as well, but the issue of concern is if he did not resign, his options would remain intact until 2011. Quite the pickle for Ncsoft I would say.
