SouthPeak Games has announced that its strategy game Battle vs. Chess will ship to stores on September 28th, 2010.

Although the ‘classic’ game of chess remains at the core of the game, players will experience not only the pieces on the board coming to life through fantastic animation in a battle between darkness and light, but also innovative new game modes, puzzles and story-driven campaigns. These twists offer players a range of challenges delivering a strategy game experience like no other.

Battle vs. Chess includes new variations in piece placement such as ‘Madness Placement’ where pieces are randomly placed all across the board and ‘Tactical Placement’ in which pieces are manually placed by the player pre-game, only becoming visible to the opponent once the game starts.
