Blind Mind Says No to GameStop
Pulling Star Ruler from Impulse.
Date: Wednesday, April 06, 2011
Author: Brian Rowe

Stardock Systems sold off its digital delivery service, Impulse, to GameStop last week. Developer Blind Mind Studios isn't having it, and will not allow Star Ruler to be available through Impulse after the transfer of ownership. Quoting Blind Mind Studios' Owner/Lead Developer Andrew "Thy Reaper" Ackermann:

"We are ending sales through Impulse due to GameStop's long, negative behavior toward the PC platform and independent games. We would never have signed onto distribution through GameStop, and being forced into this situation has only made it worse for us. We feel GameStop cannot serve as the leader of a true competitor in the digital distribution market."

Ackermann goes on to praise the original intentions of Impulse, and to let fans know that future patches will be compatible with Impulse versions of the game, if not available through the service. Star Ruler will remain available through Steam, Direct2Drive, and GamersGate.
