2K Games today launches Sid Meier’s Civilization World, a new strategy building game for Facebook. Civilization World takes the series’ style of gameplay and makes it easier to play, while also rolling in social elements.

Developed at Firaxis Games by Sid Meier, Civilization World is set in a persistent online world where players work together with friends to become the strongest nation in their social circle. Players manage and grow their own city, attempt to maximize production and happiness, and team up with friends to win battles, forge alliances, and craft treaties. Players can share technology with friends, vote on vital policies, spy on enemies, and create "wonders of the world." The game takes place beginning in the Dark Ages leading up until the Space Age
