Heavy Duty Preview
A closer look at this promising RTS action game from Primal Software and Akella.
Date: Thursday, November 23, 2006
Author: James Fudge

Primal promises 10 different mechs and other units to choose from, a total of about 50 weapons and 40 upgrades, more than 30 single-player missions and multiplayer modes like standard deathmatch, team play, and tools for would-be developers to create their own multiplayer mods. There's also a promise of seamless and instant command and direct control modes in real-time, non-linear gameplay and a vast and exciting world to explore.

The game will require some pretty hefty hardware to run when it's ready for prime-time: You'll need a Pentium 4 3 GHZ PC running Windows XP, 1 GB of memory and a 256 MB graphics card. These are the minimum requirements, so an even beefier machine might be needed to run the game without any hiccups.

Look for Heavy Duty to be ready for release sometime in the beginning of 2007. A North American publishing partner has yet to be secured, but we'll keep you posted. Given Akella's popularity here with many U.S. publishers you can expect to see the game here in 2007. In the meantime, check out these brand new screenshots from the game. - James Fudge.
