World in Conflict is effectively a beautiful, entertaining, and potentially awesome game. Probably the most graphical gratuity comes from making use of the “Tactical Aids” (quick-to-deploy Commander abilities that are built up the better you do) and dropping a tactical nuke on someone’s head, or a well-aimed incendiary strike. I’m already pretty impressed with what the beta had to offer so far, but to be perfectly honest, I’m even moreso anticipating the opportunity to see how the singleplayer campaign develops. The team at Massive Entertainment has always been able to deliver fairly strong and memorable storylines with their games, so I’m hoping they don’t skimp out in this delivery with their next project (and please don’t forget the co-op play!). Otherwise, multiplayer fanatics can rest assured World in Conflict will deliver a strong and enticing strategic multiplayer experience; one I hope lays down a new framework for future games to follow.
